Alright, Emma. Since you're gonna be taking Indigo and Ophelia (I think) that just leaves you with one more spot. Each contender possesses great potential as a member of your flock. They're both lovely and adorable, so you really can't go wrong here.
You certainly don't have to decide today, but I thought this would help you more deeply consider your options.
Let's start with Cricket.
Cricket may look a bit like Firefly, but they are very different. While Firefly was a bit shy and standoffish at first, a bird who grew into her sweetness, the brave Cricket leaps right into your hands. She's very bold and adventurous. Quite the little spitfire. She's very curious about the world and I admire that. She's a fan of one-on-one time, too. She's a chick who is forever ready for a shoulder ride or hoodie snuggle.
She's mainly a golden-brown, like a perfect marshmallow, with a buttery underbelly and dark stripes along her back that are a bit different then the ones Fire had. She's also got none of that chestnut coloration on her down. Her wing feathers are coming in almost laced-looking - deep brown with tan stippling in patterns around the edges.
I do believe she will turn out different than how Firefly looks. Perhaps lighter, with a different pattern. She'll be gorgeous, I'm sure. And colored eggs are guaranteed - hopefully a shade that would be a new addition to your egg basket and nicely complement the other beautiful colors.
She'd make a wonderful addition to your flock.
Now my dear Hazel.
Hazel is a very sweet young bird. She loves to be held. She's curious AND aware of her surroundings. She's very keen to learn and notices everything, considering it carefully. But while she's a more laid-back bird, her personality is not boring in the slightest. She boldly investigates anything that intrigues her - be it you, that dog toy, or your friend's freckles. She is curious and smart, but also gentle. She is a bit larger than most of her broodermates, save for Grace, and she's very aware of them and careful not to smush her more fragile companions as they gallop about around her.
That was too many words, but they all said the same thing. She's a bold and curious chick with a gentle personality.
She's hatchery quality, but I don't think her lacing will be too shabby. The other GLW left in the store had wings that didn't even look laced, so I'm going off of that comparison. She will likely be on the darker side, but her color is nice and golden-red, so I think she'll be quite pretty. She has a nice spiked rose comb and golden-brown legs, with a cute little dappled mask around her face.
While her egg color won't be too interesting, her tranquil disposition and attractive pattern make her an appealing addition to the flock. She'd make some very cool crosses (as would Cricket) and would be a good layer as well, though hopefully not as crazy as Thunder.
I love her half-closed eyes in this photo.
That might be too much for you! But at the very least you got cute chick photos.
