Odor Control for dirt run

Put a board across the doorway to keep the bedding in the run. Chickens will hop right over the board.

OR just let the litter go into the coop. This will give your girls even more good stuff to scratch through.

Ok I understand what I need to do but my actual coop is at the level of the current ground so if I build up a foot... Then I'd be burying my coop...
I don't want to have to raise my coop.... I'm not sure what would be easier raising the op or digging out a foot of muck?

Use the DL in the coop, as Enola says. Every year you can remove the composted materials~the litter eventually turns into soil/compost~ and place them on a garden or even sell them....this should keep your coop from getting buried. It takes a long, long time to get a coop buried in this manner, so I wouldn't get too fussed over that detail. It will all keep your chickens healthier and take away the stench and moisture on soil that is stagnant and won't drain.

I wouldn't start digging....it's useless work that won't accomplish anything that you are wanting.
