Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

*A few minutes before all this happened*

Bamboo sat in the high branches of a tree, grinning and munching on a piece of fruit as he watched a happy Nightwing beneath him. He hadn't seen very many Nightwings up close, only from a distance as they patrolled and passed by while the Rainwings were hiding in the jungle. He weirdly loved seeing someone so happy.
The Nightwing appeared to hear something, and began stalking something through the trees. Bamboo leaned forward, seeing him walk away, and felt a tap on his shoulder.
He clapped a talon over his mouth, holding in a squeak.
A quiet but stern voice behind him scolded, "Bamboo- what in the stars are you doing?"
He turned slowly and shrugged at the dragon behind him, his sister Apple.
"I- well... Y'know what? I was getting a piece of fruit, and when I looked down, I saw a random Nightwing down there. I was scared to move in case he heard me and was vicious..." Bamboo fibbed. Apple sighed, taking the piece of fruit out of Bamboo's talons and finishing it in one bite. Bamboo gawked at her indignantly. "Hey-"
"I know you're lying." Apple interrupted with a slight smirk.
Bamboo suddenly gave her a skeptical, knowing she couldn't see it. "How did you know that??" He asked, nudging her slightly.
Apple's claws dug into the bark of the tree they were perched in. "I had to follow you to make sure you weren't getting into trouble again- and clearly I was right to do so- you were!"
Bamboo snorted. "You have everyone fooled into thinking you're soft-spoken and sweet, but you're just as mischievous as your favorite brother!" He teased softly, knowing she really was quiet and kind. He loved that about her. Of course, he wasn't going to say so.
"My only brother, you dummy!" Apple snorted with laughter, then winced. "If you tell anyone I snorted again-" But Bamboo was already distracted. His head was practically twisted over his shoulder as he loudly exclaimed, "Ooh he's gone! I wanna see where he went!"
"BAMBOO!" Apple whisper-yelled as her twin quietly took off into the trees.
She spread her wings and followed him, silently saying some things in English that she wouldn't utter in Dragonese.

------

*later after they've been greeted by the crew*

"Is there a reason you dropped in?" Apple heard a voice say, and as she turned her face towards his voice, her nostrils were met with cooler air. "Ah- an Icewing." She said softly, and reached out a talon to touch his scales. She yanked her talon back before making contact. Stupid! Nobody wants to be touched by a stranger, even if they're a very curious and blind one! She thought annoyedly at herself.
Bamboo popped into the conversation. "Well yes- I was spying on this Nightwing here, and I followed him!"
Apple dropped her head into one of her talons. "Bamb- Bamboo that was dumb. We weren't spying on you all. He simply saw a Nightwing up close and was curious- and his curiosity took him too far!" She continued, turning to him and fixing a disapproving look on her face, even though she too was curious about the situation.
She realized her scales must be showing her disapproval and focused on making them neutral.
"Hello dragons, I human named Alyssia."
Apple's head snapped towards the voice. She had smelled and heard a being too small to be anything else and known it was a human, but now she could hear her- and understand her! All Apple's years of studying English were paying off.
"Hello!" She said politely in English. "I am Apple, and this is my twin brother Bamboo! How do you do, small human?" She was proud of herself. Her English was smooth and polished.
Bamboo stood behind Apple who was conversing now with Alyssia. He leaned towards the Nightwing and Icewing, muttering laughingly out of the side of his mouth, "She knows English... I have no idea what they're saying, do you?" He looked at Whitestar and his jaw dropped slightly. "Oh- woah you're blind too?!" He said loudly, causing Apple to pause in her conversation with Alyssia and cast her eyes in his direction.
"Bamboo get over here, you dunce!!" She hissed. "You can't ask someone if they're blind- moons!!"
(Alright Blackout's turn)

Blackout almost couldn't stop himself from stammering. Two random Rainwings had just appeared and were now talking to him and Whitestar.
Blackout shook himself. Get a grip, dude! He thought impatiently.
He heard Whitestar ask them why they had dropped in, and listened to the answer, seeing the blind dragon reach out for Whitestar before pulling back swiftly. She must've wanted to feel the cold of his scales, Blackout assumed.
"Well yes- I was spying on this Nightwing here, and I followed him!" The greenish-yellow Rainwing- apparently Bamboo- said happily. Blackout blinked at him in surprise.
"Uhhh... you what now?" He said confusedly.
Apple, facing him, dropped her head into her talons.
From what Blackout could tell, she was used to having to rephrase Bamboo's silly remarks. Unable to help himself, Blackout laughed quietly. Only having met them a moment ago, he already found their light-hearted bantering dynamic refreshing from harsh seriousness of the matter they had been discussing.
Oh yeah!
As Apple apparently began conversing with Alyssia in English, Blackout turned back to Whitestar. He shook his head quickly, trying to make sense of the situation but stay focused on the current task. "Alright. So now... this complicates thin-" he was cut off as Bamboo stuck his head between them and grinned, making some comment about his sister knowing English.
Blackout stared at him out of the corner of his eyes. "Uhhh..." He said slowly. "I don't know what she's saying...."
He didn't get to finish. Bamboo looked at Whitestar, and before anything could be said, promptly asked if he was blind too.
Blackout stared in shock, then dropped his head to his talons, unable to control his laughter at the silly dragon.
Apple, her scales flushing light pink in embarrassment, scolded Bamboo and ordered him to shush.
Bamboo surprisingly listened. "Ope- sorry bout that!" He said cheerfully, then bounded over to Alyssia and Apple, sticking his nose right up to Alyssia.
Blackout turned back to Whitestar, laughing softly as he heard Bamboo say a loud and exaggerated "Helloooooo!"
From the yelp he heard, Blackout assumed that either Alyssia had bonked him on the nose for getting so close, or Apple whacked him with her tail again.
The red dragon she was talking to snapped her gaze towards her as soon as she spoke, and it startled Alyssia slightly. Her draw dropped as she understood completely the next sentence that the dragon spoke to her. This dragon knows English!!! Her heart leaped and she sighed in relief. Finally! No more confusing dragonese! "Hello! I am Apple, and this is my twin brother, Bamboo. How do you do small human?" She smiled at the kind greeting. She hadn't gotten a greeting like that from any dragon she'd met so far. So many cold looks or fearful looks, like she was some sort of monster. But, this dragon, this one seemed so loving and kind. Alyssia's smile grew wider as she heard the one named Bamboo mutter something about English to the others. They can't understand us can they. There was more mutterin in Dragonese and Alyssia caught something about being blind. She looked back at the eyes of this dragon and wondered if she could be blind. Alyssia opened her mouth to answer Apple when the one named Bamboo come bounding over to her like a child. She took a few steps back as the dragon came up to her face and gave a very emphatic "Helloooooo!" She giggled at the dragons playfulness and decided to be playful back. She stuck out her hand and bopped him on the nose. Even louder than her small pat was the large "Thwack!" that sounded behind Bamboo. Apple's tail had whipped around and knocked Bamboo hard.
Alyssia fell to her knees with laughter. Never had she seen a funnier pair of dragons. Getting back to her feet, she looked at Apple again. "I'm doing quite well, Miss Apple," she added with a smile. "How are you and your brother this fine day?" She took a step towards the dragon, her eyes peaking Alyssia's curiosity.

Gosh, I wish we could do something with them.
Maybe they could get thrown in the arena for some random entertainment this afternoon in the bar/above The Maze thing.
Maybe. Honestly, Crest is going pretty crazy without water, so maybe there could be an incident where they are all in the arena for entertainment or something and Crest can start going mad or something and they have to calm him down without killing him.

"Good job, good job." Tobias reassured. "If you shift to you right we can stitch this other guy up. You need a break? That's okay if you do."
He could only imagine what that must have felt like, having broken his humerus before, he could compare a bit, but it had been a clean break. These bones were GIANT, and extremely difficult to move back.
@Nicole Taber, right? I don't believe I missed one. So when you get a chance.

Whitestar tensed as Apple reached out to touch him before quickly jerking her talon back, as if realizing the possible discomfort. The young Rainwing looked like she was trying to control her composure as much as Whitestar was, and he saw the edges of her wings and ruff ripple light green before she seemed to force them back to their original colors. That's right, he thought, recalling a brief memory of learning about Rainwing scales, as Apple started chattering with Alyssia. Rainwing's scales change with their emotions unless they intentionally change them back.
He watched Alyssia and Apple converse a moment, lost in thought, only half listening to Bamboo's teasing muttering about his sister. Suddenly, the green Rainwing looked straight at him, his scales rippling distractingly with excitement.
"Oh- woah you're blind too?!"
Whitestar jolted at the comment, snapping out of his thoughts to turn and look at the Rainwing in surprise.
Apple hissed irritably at her brother and Bamboo immediately bounded away toward Alyssia, already distracted from his previous question. Blackout started laughing at the Rainwing's comment and Whitestar shifted his wings in embarrassment. He watched Alyssia and Bamboo's playful interaction before answering.
"No, I am not blind," he said after a moment turning his attention to Apple. "Don't worry about your brother, it's not the first time someone has asked." He gave her a small controlled smile and then remembered she couldn't see. He glanced back at Bamboo a moment before continuing.
"Are you two... twins?" It was hard to ignore the pang of guilt and longing that began clawing toward his heart, and he forced the thought away. We aren't diving into that dark water right now. Eclipse needs you to stay focused right now.

Neoma stared at Sunspot. She didn't seem to care or be interested in talking or moving.
Neoma partly shared her despair, but in another way, wanted to grab the Solawing by the wing-bones and shake her hard enough to hear her brain rattle. If possible, she would take her Warping and go poke her with it. But noooo... she had this stupid muzzle on.
A commotion in the corner of her eyes caught her attention. She looked over towards the Seawing, and her eyes widened. He was leaning heavily against the bars of his cage, panting and struggling to stand.
Neoma glanced again back at Helios. From his glare at Sunspot, she knew he hadn't noticed yet.
She looked back at the water dragon, and gasped slightly. Now, he was stumbling to the floor and struggling to rise again. Another loud clanging rang out again as one of the humans around his cell slammed the bars with a long metal pole- which, consequently, reminded Neoma that she was sitting on some. She glanced down at her talons and smirked a tiny bit, then looked back. Now, he was being given water.
The humans snapped something at him, then slammed the cell closed again and began walking away. The Seawing was relieved, and began drinking the water fast.
When he looked up, Neoma could tell he was slightly embarrassed. She gave him an understanding nod and winked, hoping he got the message that it was okay.
She jumped violently as Helios lost all patience and shouted loudly at Sunspot.
"Sunspot! Where is eclipse?!” He roared. Neoma stared in concern. Answer him, please, Sunspot, you dummy. She thought worriedly. She glanced back at the Seawing, sharing a shrug with him.
His head clearing from the water and having more control over himself, he made eye contact with the lunarwing she gave him a nod and a wink. If dragons could blush, he would have. He didn't think these dragons would be so understanding. After all, they were all in this awful place and they could be thinking that he was just a crazy dragon. And every other dragon he'd met thus far hadn't made any attempt to talk to him, much less be friendly. He forced himself not to smile. Remember...you can't...get too close to them. He heard the loud bellow from the king and his eyes shot towards the large dragon. Following his gaze, he saw the smaller sandwing curled up, wanting nothing to do with them. Now that's more what I was expecting. His gaze went back to the lunarwing who shrugged as he shrugged. He couldn't help the small grin this time. Of all the time that he'd been here, there may just be hope to get through this terrible dry place. He sighed. There's still hope.

He could only imagine what that must have felt like, having broken his humerus before, he could compare a bit, but it had been a clean break. These bones were GIANT, and extremely difficult to move back.
"No--it's fine," Eclipse said tensely, trying to ignore the pain in her shoulder. "Wait--you're stitching it? Like... with a needle?" She felt her stomach twist again at the thought. "Can I just..." she sat up and stretched a talon tentatively out toward the floor of the lot, outside the cage. She gave Tobias a nervous glance.

Tobias raised his eyebrows, motioning her through, though he didn't smile, he just looked cautious.
It was crazy how fast she had gone from hiding, to this. But no one here had given Eclipse a reason to be fearful- unlike where she had just come from. Though, he would still have to be cautious. She could be deceiving him.

Eclipse stepped out into the lot and stood there for a moment, enjoying the space. She opened her left wing as far as it could go a beat it in the air a couple of times, sending dirt that had settled on the floor sweeping upward before it fell back again. She felt her blood beginning to flow warmly through her muscles and she stretched, arching her spine like a cat. She could feel her confidence returning for the first time since arriving in the Den, and she swept her gaze around the lot and the four other dragons there before sitting down and wrapping her tail around her talons gracefully. She fixed Tobias with a calm look. Okay, she thought, relishing the small amount of freedom. Maybe you're not half bad.

Sol seized up- maybe still in a dream, but he could actually feel the floor, which was new. He took a deep, refreshing breath and opened his eyes- wait, what?! His eyes could do that? and he flinched back, blinding lights, blinding lights,  blinding.
He felt his chest heave with a cough and he gagged, probably getting sick, but at this point the lights were just too fricken bright, and suddenly everything hurt too fricken much to care..
"Tobias." He coughed. How fitting. Now everything came back in order, every blasting scene from the arena, every dream forgotten.
Sol blinked, squinting a strange shapes through the bars- bars? Blasted moons BARS.
Sol tried to sit up, piercing pain in his wing voting he should scrap that idea, and he obliged.
"Wh.. what." He panted shakily. "Where.. am I?"
