Was Ferrin a traitor to the rebellion?!"Oh. It's Tobias." Ferrin murmered. "Afraid you forgot to include that part." He set his bags down beside the door, striding into the small Infirmary.
Tobias stood shakily beside a table in the center of the room, his blackened forearm pinned on the table's slick surface. Two security guards stood at Tobias' side, holding him steady as a pair of doctors examined the wound.
"Goodness gracious." Ferrin exclaimed quietly, walking silently to the opposite end of the skinny table.
Upon seeing him, Tobias stiffened, each breath heavy and pointed, as if one could accuse a man by breathing.
Ferrin leaned on the table, staring back at Tobias' unfocused eyes with a calm air. "You say an IceWing did this?"
"That is what we were told." Alley agreed, rolling Tobias' sleeve up to reveal more deep grey tinted skin.
Johnson strode up behind Ferrin, a syringe in hand. "It's spreading remarkably fast. We had Xander in here a few minutes ago, and not even he knew what was going on."
Ferrin slowly reached out and brushed his fingers across Tobias' wrist, frowning deeply. "That is... unnaturally cold, when did you say this happened again?"
"An hour ago, maybe more." Johnson replied, moving closer to Tobias' side with the syringe. He popped the top off, inserting the needle just below the elbow.
"Can he feel it?" Ferrin asked softly, slowly lifting his gaze to meet Tobias' silent, fighting stare.
Johnson gave a quiet chuckle, nodding his head, "Oh, yes, he most definitely can feel it. Should have seen him thirty minutes ago."
Ferrin sighed heavily, moving his hand further up Tobias' arm, searching for a reaction as he gently put pressure on the skin. Tobias did not oblige. "What did you give him?"
Alley snorted, "Everything in the book, that's why we called you in."
"Morphine?"
"Yes."
Ferrin gave a knowing nod, sliding his hand back down Tobias' arm while meeting his gaze. He felt Tobias stiffen as his fingers tips grazed the man's palm. Holding his gaze, Ferrin pressed harder, and Tobias' silent composure broke, shuddering as he doubled over.
"Okay." Ferrin decided rather abruptly, pulling away from the table and walking towards his bags. "Do we know who this IceWing was?"
"No-" Johnson replied, "but I can get the dragons numbers later if need be."
Ferrin clicked his tounge and knelt beside his bags, pulling a wide, skinny box from his briefcase. "Now, the rebellion seems to have created a sedative countering drug of sorts, you may have noticed?" The doctors agreed as Ferrin set the case down of the counter, flipping the latch open. "Well, within this counter drug they created, there seems to be an energy stimulate, as well as ability restoration. It works unnaturally fast, and I'd wager the strain it puts on the body is absolutely horrid. But this would be the cause for why the IceWing'a frost breath was so detrimental." Ferrin brushed a hand through the front of his curly, gray streaked hair as his free hand opened the case, revealing a pair of syringes. "This-" Ferrin explained, reaching for the left needle, "is my own serum, designed to reduce the effects of many sorts of spreading viruses. In theory, it's job is very similar of that of the virus- it spreads throughout the body, eliminating all which contrasts to it. Try it. In theory, it should slow the ice until you, or I, create an antidote."
Ferrin handed the syringe to Johnson, locking eyes with Tobias once again as the doctor leaned over the table, puncturing Tobias' frostbite wrist with the sharp needle point. Again, Tobias didn't react, and Ferrin was genuinely impressed- as the serum spread, Tobias' expression flickered, but, with a trembling, strangled breath, he held Ferrin's gaze. Scoffing slightly, Ferrin took the last syringe from the case, offering the needle to Alley. Tobias faltered, pulling away from the table for a moment before the guards slammed him back against the counter.
"Calm down." Ferrin muttered, turning his attention back to the syringe in Alley's hand. "Run tests on that. It was retrieved from yours truly." Ferrin nodded towards Tobias as he strode towards his bags.
"Is this the rebel serum?"
"If you want to give it a stupid name, be my guest." Ferrin retorted, opening the door. "Keep me updated on him. And, darling, if you really want to keep him alive, do something about that bullet wound?" With that, Ferrin left the room, the door hissing shut behind him.
