Ferrin sighed. "How quickly did it spread once I left?" He ran his fingers down Tobias' bandaged arm, using his free hand to remove his glasses in one swift motion.
"Immediate." Fractures huffed. "Even if we did hold out forr you to rreturn, you were incrredibly late. Rrose saved his life."
"Do not reprimand me, Fracture." Ferrin warned, standing. "I believe it's time you take into account how incredibly busy I am."
"Prriorities." Fracture snapped.
"I have a business to run, as well as my life, which, actually, darling, let's wrap up this little matter, I'd hate to waste another moment fighting an argument I've already won." In an obvious rush to interrupt Fractures comeback, Ferrin turned to Gables. "I can get you out of here tonight. As well as Tobias. Fracture, you're far too valuable to them, they see you as a leader, and I've called enough meaningless favors as of recent."
Fracture scowled, rolling her eyes.
"Gables- most of us know you're not really Gables. What was your name again?"
Gables frowned. "I have more incriminating evidence under that name than 'Gables.'"
"Nonsense, I checked the files," Ferrin drawled on in a bored tone, "Jonas Sinclair."
Gables didn't reply, staring Ferrin down, though he seemed a bit shocked.
"Everryone knows what he looks like." Fracture growled, "How is he to assume his prrevious identity? He's been Gables longerr than Sinclairr."
Ferrin mumbled something under his breath, lugging a second backpack into the room. He dug around in the bag, food and water spilling out as he searched, eventually pulling out a small case. He flipped the top open, a razor and scissors inside. "Buzz the sides, box braids on the top."
"I vote we cut it all off." Fracture announced.
Ferrin rolled his eyes, "The Rally ends in half an hour, but I believe it will go over time. They brought in the lab hybrids." Ferrin sighed. "But, while we wait-" he took the pair of trimmers into his hands.
Gables was disappointed. But Ferrin worked with quick, knowing hands. Forty minutes later, he had finished. It wasn't a hack job, either. Gables was impressed. He looked nothing like himself.
Tobias had woken as Ferrin worked, but he just lay motionless, looking quite out of it. Ferrin put the razor away, offering the bag to Fracture. He turned to Rose. "I can get you out. Your name has been decently cleared as of now. The compromise is you lot stay in prisoned in my lab, they're still set on questioning."
"Is that how you are getting Tobias out? His arm, right?" Fracture asked.
Ferrin gave a condescending nod. "Correct. They are working on replicating Rose's serum. After what the IceWing's frost breath did... They are intrigued."
Fracture groaned softly. "Disgusting."
"Completely. Now, Rose? Are you up for the trip? We simply must reach the truck yard, then you'll be off your feet." Even saying this sounded impossible. Rose's leg was absolutely gutted, her mouth blistering around the edges. The guards could drag her, obviously, that's what was going to happen to Tobias, but rarely did a dragon willingly stoop to such a level. They were proud- and this was good. Pride meant they still hadn't been broken.
