"Start flying," Alicanto growled, his lip curling slightly. The other warping blade hovered closer to the Rainwing, inches from the scales on her chest.
Vel frowned. "I have a question for Tobias. And then I swear to henceforth obey your commands so long as they don't include killing them, because that would completely destroy our previous agreement." She smiled. "Deal?"

Exaaaactly.

Alicanto growled again.
"Fiiiiiiinnnne," he hissed, the word sticking as if he had to drag it through the rage and irritation churning in his voice.
"But I doubt he's conscious enough to answer you in the first place. And if you make. One. Move-"
A smaller warping knife appeared in the air beside Alicanto's forearm, aimed at Tobias's chest, adding to the threat already present by his poised claw.
"We drop the deal and I'll kill both of you." He glanced briefly at Ajax, who was holding the other warping blade by its handle before fixing the Rainwing with a penetrating stare.

Calla’s ears pricked up when she heard the roar. She watched as the RainWings camouflaged and the other two landed in the sand, hidden. “May as well follow,” she grumbled irritably.
Calla tilted her wings downward, flying to where Cas and Hibiscus were. She glared down at them as she roughly landed. “I would like to know what’s happening,” Calla murmured grumpily.
“Well hel-LO to you too,” Cas said sarcastically, flicking his tail. “Basically long story short, there’s murderers all around us and we’re all gonna die.” He tightened his lips and raised a brow at Calla.

Sol tensed, realizing how very easily the assassins could kill Tobias- and him and Eclipse for that matter. They had lost Gen- and truthfully he was the only reason anyone had survived this far. There was a risk in everything, and Sol always seemed forced to take it.
Vel tilted August's head back, using her talon to support his neck. He stared back at her, exhaustion and pain tugging at his expression- but he was alive, and that's all that mattered to Sol at the moment.
The gray RainWing leaned in towards the man. "Did Roe make it?"
The question was blunt, filled with suspicion.
Tobias didn't answer at first, and the CloudWing rolled his eyes, begining to pull away.
Vel hissed, shaking Tobias, standing her ground. "Is Roe dead?"
Sol's heart jack-knived as the warping blades pressed against Tobias' chest. The air seemed to stand still, a thick, invisible tension.
And then Tobias nodded.
Vel released the man, stumbling back.
Sol rushed forward, trying to push back the horrid feeling of loss pounding in his mind.
The RainWing leapt into the air, flying back a ways. "Alright. Alright, let him go." Her rebellious flare was gone, her jesting tone obliterated by truth.
Sol met the CloudWing's gaze, keeping his expression cold and hard- would the dragon keep his word?

Slim Shady.

Alicanto watched the Rainwing fly away, his tail twitching in curiosity.
"How unfortunate," he murmured, shaking his head after she was a short distance away, Ajax following close behind. His attention drifted back to Sol and the Lunarwing and he gave the red dragon a sly grin, glancing back down at Tobias and then back to Sol.
"What is a dragon worth if he can't keep his own word?" he inquired in a light-hearted, almost philosophical tone. The warping knife drew back, dissolving back into Alicanto's feathers and he adjusted his hold on Tobias again, his claw moving away from the human's throat.
Alicanto laughed and shook his head, tossing Tobias carelessly to the ground between them, causing him to tumble a few feet across the sand before stopping, lying limp less than a tails-length away.
The silver dragon opened his wings and swept them around in a wide flourish, making the large wing feathers glitter as he stooped into a low, fake bow.
"It was a pleasure doing business with you, your highness. And I doubt we've seen the last of each other yet." He stood up, taking a pace back, before leaping into the air and beating his wings in the direction the Rainwing and Ajax were headed.

(okay, I'm done torturing Tobe and Sol now)

Oh my gosh, I love Alicanto. He is everything. Dude's absolute fire.

Oh, yes, I'm sure they appreciate that. Give me a few years to write a response...
