Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Eclipse crouched in the tunnel entrance a moment longer, eying the bird wing in front of her. Then she slowly stood up and took several paces out into the open gingerly picking up the scrap of meat.
"Important enough," she said cautiously, sitting down in the sand and inspecting it carefully. She began plucking the feathers out of it as best she could, her snout wrinkling slightly at the task.
Sunspot watched the LunarWing pluck the bird for a moment. “You want me to…?” She puffed out a small flame.

Ugh. Why do I even bother. It’s all pointless in the end. The dragons I talk to never stick around.

Eclipse hesitated a moment glancing from Sunspot to the feathers in her talon, and back to the wing, feeling a little awkward. She grasped it carefully between two claws and flicked it back to her.
"I've--er... never had cooked meat before..." she said, shifting uncomfortably.
I hate small talk, she thought, annoyed at herself. How can I be intimidating and then such a weirdo when it comes to normal conversation?
"Just--burn it or cook it or whatever."

“Only a little bit,” Sunspot promised, a little grudgingly. She swished her tail in the sand. Why does this feel so stupid and awkward???

She quickly used another burst of flame on Eclipse’s meat, the feathers scorched off and the skin a little singed but the rest of the meat mostly untouched. She tossed it back to the LunarWing, pretending to examine a spot on her wing nonchalantly.

Eclipse tentatively bent her head down and sniffed the meat. The feathers were charred enough now that she could easily scrape them off. Same for the skin--she never cared much for it anyway. She clawed the black spiky remains of the feathers and the tender skin off before quickly snatching a piece of meat between her jaws. Out of habit, she hastily ripped it off, pulling her head back and cocking her head up at the sky. She kept her back arched and wings half unfolded, almost as if in anticipation of being attacked.
The meat was pleasantly warm, but still uncooked, as she was used to. With the sun now beginning to dip in the sky, the desert had turned from a battering glare to a comfortable pulsing warmth. The combination of the climate, the warm fresh food, and her lack of sleep made her eyelids suddenly feel heavy. She shook out her body, trying to force more energy into her limbs, before ripping another piece of meat off.
It's gonna be a long flight to the coast, she thought, her mind wandering back to her upcoming journey. I hope I don't oversleep and completely miss my chance to make it to the island by the full moon.
She glanced back at Sunspot, anxiety rising in her stomach.
I hope we can get this mission done before then.

“Nope.” Corvus, shaking his head. He tilted his head curiously at Robin. “You’re new too?”

(UGHHHH IDK HOW TO MAKE PHOENIX STOP dITHERING-)
Lol you’ll get to it 😂

King flew to the dock area, where an adult female Riverwing was curled up, quietly sobbing. She looked up as footsteps approached her, and then a quite voice broke the silence. “Momma…” Bluegill said softly, and the Riverwings face became overjoyed within an instant. “Bluegill! Oh my sweet boy! You’re alive, you’re alive!” She sobbed, happy tears this time, clutching him tightly and looking at him several times, reassuring herself that he was real and not another dream or nightmare.
King smiled, this was why he did what he did.

Sunspot watched Eclipse for a few moments longer before flexing her wings up and out with a yawn. She was tired, it had been a VERY long day. She noticed Eclipse seemed exhausted too. And… preoccupied? The silver dragons thoughts were obviously elsewhere.

Sunspot crouched low to the ground, using her wings to scrape a shallow dip in the warm desert sand. She laid down, her head facing out towards the setting sun. The sunset turned the desert into a completely new landscape, filled with bright oranges, pinks and purples.

She was deeply curious as to what the escaped NightWing meant to Eclipse. Patience, she told herself, the tip of her tail twitching.

(What’s this??? Sunspot feels a spark of compassion in her selfish loner heart?? What will she do, use Eclipse for her own means indirectly, or actually help?? Manipulate, or be an honorable dragon??? I can’t wait to see where this goes)

Eclipse watched Sunspot carve out her little bed in the sand and settle down into it comfortably, staring out at the sunset. Eclipse couldn't help but admire it as well--the faint cirrus clouds that streaked the horizon turned into burning pink silk. The sun faded blood red as it sunk, seeming to dance as heat waves flowed across the desert like an invisible river. The sky turned a brilliant shade of golden orange, and off to the now indigo east, the moon could barely be seen peeking over the horizon sleepily.
It's almost full, she thought, letting out a long breath. She stared at the beautiful silver globe as it rose, her mind drifting away from the continent and over the sea. Eclipse reached up subconsciously and traced a claw around the onyx in her neckband. She was pretty sure Sunspot was asleep by now, and she allowed just the tinniest smile to grace the corner of her face.

Sunspot dozed cautiously, still unsure of wether she could trust Eclipse, but fairly confident she could sleep safely. It had been a strange day for her.
