Eclipse stared silently out toward the horizon for a long moment, building a response in her mind. It was hard to open up to other dragons, especially new ones, and she felt like she practically had to drag the words from her mouth. It would be so much easier to just nod and not say anything at all. But these dragons disliked her enough already. Responding might earn her a neutral relationship at the least. And maybe she wouldn't have to worry quite as much about them backstabbing her. Although in the case of Sunspot, that was probably always going to be a concern. But then again, it was still a concern with just about every dragon.
"I am always, as you said, "uptight", she started. "I have always been this way, and it's not necessarily because you attacked me. I survived. You survived. My worst issue now is I'm missing a claw." Eclipse glanced down at her injured talon somewhat irritably.
"To be fair though, I wounded you to defend myself. I'm not the kind of dragon who hurts others just because I know I can. I use my strength and training only when I need it."
She paused a moment longer and then let out a sigh.
"You can enjoy yourself out here if you want. I couldn't relax and unwind if I wanted to. At least, not out here, around other dragons. It's just the way I am. You don't have to travel with us," she nodded toward Sunspot. "You don't owe me anything, and my mission is dangerous. I'm tracking someone as well--a Nightwing hunter whom I've wanted dead for years. I understand your... aggression."
She turned to look at Neoma, holding her gaze. "By all means understand--you are not my prisoner. We are the same tribe and Lunarwings need to look out for each other if we can. Whether or not you follow me, help me, or pursue your own goals is not my say. Besides," she turned to stare down at the Solarwing flipping around through the air below. "I have enough to deal with at the moment, I would be going in over my head trying to manage two dragons at once."
Sunspot turned to look up at them, slowing to fall in line with their wingbeats.
"Did you guys see that?"
Eclipse felt her spines rise in alarm and she stopped, hovering mid-air. She raked her gaze over the dunes, trying to see whatever had caught the other's attention.
"See what?" she said tensely watching the sand anxiously.
Neoma nodded, staring straight ahead as they continued forward, listening to Eclipse. She understood the uptightness, she had always been the same. But the joy of finding another Lunarwing was somehow freeing... especially when it was one that didn't actually want to kill her.
"Glad to hear I'm not your prisoner. And I know I'm not held to anything, but I choose to travel with you. I think the two of us share the same thought- that Lunarwings have a sort of loyalty to each other. And I could use your help with a few things... you know this continent better than I. You don't have to manage me, by the way, I got that myself-" She was cut off as both Sunspot and Eclipse noticed something.
"Crabapples..." Neoma muttered to herself quietly, then louder, said, "Yeah, I noticed something earlier around the time Sunspot did... but I thought it was a heat mirage... Sunspot and I having the same exact one, however, sounds a bit too odd..."

hey @Crestcrazy2, is Helios gonna come toward them more?

Eclipse let out a low hiss, narrowing her eyes against the blinding sand and heat waves rising in the air. It was hard to see anything that might be a dragon out in these dunes since the desert itself seemed to be moving. She hesitated for a moment then glanced at the sky nervously.
"We don't have time to investigate," she said, twisting in the air to look back at them. "If we veer off course, we may never make it there before mid-night, especially with the way this past day has gone. Stay on the alert, and stay together. We don't know what may be out here."
She pivoted sharply and began flying back in the direction of the coast, casting a wary glance over her shoulder.

Sunspot flared her wings, wheeling around to face back the way they had come. “I saw something. Neoma saw it too.” She said warily, her eyes narrowing.

“Interesting?” Corvus questioned.
King laughed nervously, “it’s sort of a….plan, we’ve been trying to figure out a way to even the odds.” He said, picking up a rock and tossing it in the lake. He looked out across the surface, trying to avoid Corvus’s suspicious eyes.

The trio HAD seen him. Great.
He couldn’t keep following them, he had to turn toward the Scorpion Den. But he needed to know who these dragons were.
Helios rose up from the sand dunes, his shimmering crimson scales standing out in the barren desert sand. From where he was the three dragons were silver and orange whisps due to the heat waves and he was sure he looked the same to them.

“Nope.” Sunspot said. “I’m not letting whatever that is tail along behind us. I’m off.” She flared her scales with a snarl and dove back the way they had come, not stopping to consider the consequences.

Sunspots eyes widened as she recognized reflective red scales rising from the sand. She upped the speed, cutting through the air like a knife.

Neoma grimaced as Sunspot wheeled around and headed straight for the strange figure. Not good.... She glanced at Eclipse with an apologetic look, and then took off after Sunspot. Neoma was quicker and could probably overtake her, but she wasn't sure she could handle another fight, especially if the flapping figure they were clearly seeing was as dangerous as he was large.
"WAIT!" Neoma yelled, drawing next to Sunspot and continuing over the whistling wind, "Play it safe and smart! Don't engage until we know if this is a threat!" She couldn't be sure if Sunspot had heard her or if Eclipse was following, but as they drew even closer to the hovering dragon nearby, she could only pray that one or both were the case.

"Cursed stars above-- SUNSPOT GET BACK HERE!"
Eclipse whipped around in the air, pounding her wings furiously after them. That stupid Solarwing is gonna get us all killed, she thought with a hiss as she gained on Neoma. We don't have time to be galavanting after strange--and rather huge--dragons. Of course, she wouldn't understand though. She doesn't have a scratch on her.
Eclipse could see the dragon more clearly now. He was nearly twice Sunspot's size, with bright crimson-colored scales. He hovered almost casually above the dunes as if he was waiting for them to come right to them.
What if it's a trap? What if Sunspot just flew us all to our graves? He could be working with the Nightwings. He could have his own band of rouges just waiting to jump up and kill us all.
Eclipse drew her dagger and pulled a set of iron claw extensions out of a pouch on her neck, keeping her eyes locked on the strange dragon as they approached. She could see now that he didn't have any front talons, but his wings were huge. The crest that ran from the top of his head to his tail was covered with large burning orbs.
Another Solarwing, she thought narrowing her eyes toward Sunspot. Was she leading the Lunarwings into a trap. She angled her wings upward, letting the heat carry her higher, and fell behind the other two as they continued toward the large Solarwing.

Blazes, maybe this was a bad idea.” Helios thought as the group turned and flew directly toward him. He flew closer, the gap between them closing rather quickly. He tried to look as if he was as nonthreatening as possible, but still able to hold his own in a fight. “Three against one, this could be bad.”

The smoke and dust was still thick and Alyssia could hear footsteps charging through the hallways. She charged towards the hole now in the wall. Grabbing the blanket and not looking back, she jumped. I can't let them see where I go. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw that she was about 35 feet above the ground. She couldn't stop. She was already falling. She spread the blanket out above her, trying to parachute her fall. The blanket only worked for a short time...before it ripped in half. She began to speed up again, and she braced her legs for impact. Her feet touched the ground and she leaned tried to roll forward to take off some of the impact. Well, I guess movies can teach you some things. She thought as began to stand up. Pain shot through her right ankle and she buckled back to her knees. "Shoot" she said, teeth clenched with pain. She stood again, ignoring the pain in her ankle.
She heard voices coming from all directions. She stumbled forward, desperately trying to make her way to the building in front of her. It looked a little more modern than the others with large garage-looking doors in the front.
"There she is!" voices boomed from behind her. Adrenaline numbed the pain and she ran into the building. A large grin spread over her face as she beheld what was in the room. Rows of dirt bikes.
On the far wall, she saw racks of guns lined up. She found the switch for the large sliding door and switched it. Looking around for a piece of debris, she found a stray pipe and grabbed the cold steel.
"Catch her!" came the voices again as the door closed. She winded up and let loose on the switch. The electricity crackled as the structure was beaten and destroyed.
Voices carried into the building. "Get this door open!"
Her tennis shoes pattered on the ground as she made her way to the wall with the guns. In front of the wall, she could see boxes and her heart leapt as she saw the label.
Explosives.
A smile spread across her face and she went for one of the guns on the wall. She heard them banging on the door and sped up what she was doing. She took a smaller handheld gun and stuffed bullets in her pockets. Moving to the box of explosives, she filled her arms and carefully brought them to one of the dirtbikes. Sweat dripped down her back as the suspense grew more and more. The door was almost completely disfigured. She heard faintly the words "blow up" come through the door. Her eyes widened and she frantically began searching the bike for keys. Hanging on the handlebars, she found a key dangling. Idiot. She grabbed it and started the bike. The engine humming to life.
She took one of the grenades that she had grabbed from the bucket and chucked it at the door. This is for taking my phone, you jerks. A wild glint was in her eye as the last moments of the grenade ticked away. Covering her ears, she waited. Finally, the earsplitting crack of yet another explosion rocked this building. She looked up and saw a wall of dragons and humans. Her heart sank. There's too many of them. She felt like surrendering and going back to the small prison. They'd just kill me. Suddenly, she had a realization. Well, if I'm gonna die, I might as well take them with me. She looked behind her at the boxes of explosives. She grabbed one of her grenades and held it up for the group to see. "Come one step closer and I'll blow us all up."
The group of thieves halted. Fear beginning to dawn in their eyes.
"Let me go, and I'll put down the grenades," she demanded.
Some of the men conversed. She caught a little of it, but only slight bits. "She's just a kid." "She's of no use to us." "We could always...she can't get far."
She sat in suspense. She was all out of options. She had to bluff this one out. Could I really kill myself like this? she thought. They came to a conclusion and she saw the main one step forward.
"Alright, kid, just put down the grenade and we'll let you go. You can keep the bike and we'll let you ride out of the city to wherever you want to go."
Wait, really? She tried to look confident. "Ah, yes, thank you."
She started the dirt bike forward, cautiously inching towards them. They seemed to part for her, all of them eyeing the grenade she held tightly in her hand, the pin in her mouth ready to pull. She revved the bike and darted full speed away from the group. She heard orders from behind her, "Get her!"
Jerks! She thought. They didn't even keep their promise! She zoomed through the main street and back into the main clearing. She passed cages and dragons in them. She made her way to the entrance to the city. Dragons continuously lining the way in their cages. She got to the gate and found it open, but with many black dragons guarding on the lookout. She ducked into an alleyway and stopped to look at the situation. As she was contemplating, she saw two dragons near the entrance in cages. One deep red and the other dark blue. The eyes of both of them were on her as she stopped to look at her situation. They're gonna give me away. As she thought this, the blue dragon began to bang around in its cage, making a ruckus and attempting to break the bars. The two nightwings immediately flew over and began to beat the seawing back. She seized her opportunity. Pushing the bike to its limits, she sped towards the gates. She took one final look back and locked eyes with the sea dragon. The aqua blue seemed so familiar and she tried to place where she'd seen it before. She spun her attention back to the road as she sped through the gates and out into the desert.
Where in the world am I? she thought as she sped out and only saw sand stretching for miles. No time to think about that now. She heard the sound of wings and looked over her shoulder. She saw black dragons taking to the skies after her. "Uh oh," she muttered to herself.
Sweat was dripping from her head with all the stress of the situation. She lifted her gun and tried desperately to scare the dragons off with some shots. She fired two towards the general vicinity, but she didn't hear any cries of pain, so she assumed she missed. The wind blasted her face and she squinted through the pain now in her eyes.
Man, when I thought adventure, I never thought it would be something like driving away in a sea of sand on a bike being chased by a flock of dragons waiting to kill you or sell you!!!
