lol that was extra long, i got a bit carried away haha! i almost apologized and then remembered my own rule!
I hope someone else enjoys psychology bc i included some psychological thoughts in there!
1. when you feel overstimulated and tiny little things from the physical to the mental and emotional can wear you down and make you feel irritable and cranky, sometimes causing you to lash out without reason.
2. when you have a ton of thoughts that feel like they should have taken ages, only to snap out of them and realize not much time has passed at all! ofc it varies depending on the thoughts, sometimes minutes but sometimes seconds! in neoma's case, it was like thirty seconds so she didn't realize she was thinking like that lol
3. the random clarity when you finally realize your choices or organize your thoughts and get them set out. it feels like you can think properly again.
i thought it would be fun to include some mentally realistic properties for Neoma, I want her to be smart, cunning, and cool, but also struggle mentally sometimes with random little things or have odd moments where she has flashbacks. I love playing with my character's minds!!!!! ahhhhhhh

Sol shook, trying to throw the little dragon off his neck, well aware of the LeafWing eating his shoulder.
The crowd had grown oddly quiet, but far from silent. "Oh, shhhhoot-" Sol groaned, not daring to relax his tense muscles as he grunted and yanked his wings back, only allowing the LeafWing's teeth to sink in deeper.
He roared, jerking himself back again, whipping his neck from side to side to loosen the CloudWing's hold, eventually getting free.
He gasped for breath- but couldn't stop now. The crowd waited tensely, wondering if their champion would be beat by the two random, worthless dragons.
Sol charged the CloudWing, slamming him against the wall, thrusting his left wing out to pin the dragon, pushing hard against his neck.
"Do you want to die, or something?" He panted, his breaths laced with laughter, "Please, enlighten me on this death wish of yours. Happy to oblige." Sol threw the CloudWing to the ground, watching the LeafWing warily as he retreated, giving the crowd a cocky grin, renewing their enthusiasm.
Shrike coughed, rubbing his neck as he lifted himself off the floor. He glared at Sol.
“Ahh, forget this.” He griped, mostly to himself and Kapok, but said it loud enough for Sol to hear. “He doesn’t realize he’s literally the best shot anyone has around here at escaping.” Shrike stalked towards his LeafWing counterpart with a grimace, staying out of reach of Sol.
“He’s too busy bein a pet. Too busy tryin to be one o’ the humans to realize that he could practically walk outta the place and not even so much as get glanced at! Yeah, betcha never thought of that, huh?” Shrike scoffed. “Too busy tryin to be the good boy. Yeah, you go ahead an win this fight! Go on! Win it like a good boy for ya master!”
The CloudWing waited for Sol’s inevitable advance.

Ahh, the taunting. He'd have other dragons try to guilt trip him before. Never this aggressively, though, the CloudWing certainly spoke his mind.
Sol gave them a critical arch of his brow before launching himself at the CloudWing. Sol tossed the little dragon over, standing on his wings and pushing his head back so that his entire body lay flat on against the floor.
He roared in the CloudWings face, the crowd wild- but they wanted gore.
Well..
Sol wasn't going to give it to them this time.
The SolorWing leaned down to whisper, "I am top dog around here- so if you plan on surviving, I would go with the flow like every other dragon that steps into this arena." Sol pushed his weight into the dragons neck. "I don't think you realize what's a stake here. But if you do- I mean, well, you're a psycho, or something else, I don't care,"
Sol was well aware of the restless LeafWing- prepared to step away from the CloudWing at any given moment.
"Escape is impossible, pal. I think it's time you to give up, and except that you have no life outside of the Scorpion Den."
Sol leapt to the side, hurling the CloudWing towards his burly green companion.

Shrike landed against Kapok’s side and tumbled to the ground, gasping.
“Not all of us can be as big an tough as you, SolarWing.” Shrike is rasped coldly. “And I will survive- by escaping. An I don’t need you to do it.” Shrike didn’t try to get back up, hoping that the round would end if he refused to get back up.
“And any life is better than one surrounded by cage bars an chains.” He growled, glaring at Sol.

Sunspot was silent for a few moments, thinking. “Being vague isn’t helping your case,” she said matter if factly. “Eclipse here has a mission and it seems a good but safer and more adventurous to quest across the continent rather than toss myself into that rattlesnake pit.” She looked at Eclipse and Neoma for feedback.

Eclipse hesitated, glancing between the other three dragons. For once, Sunspot actually agreed with her. Eclipse felt torn. This dragon was obviously desperate, and Eclipse couldn't stop the thought from slipping into her mind. What if it was a dragon I cared about? What if it was Whitestar? I would want help from someone--anyone. No matter what tribe.
And Helios was offering to help her in return. The four of them, together, hunting the Nightwing? It felt unreal. They might be able to pull it off. And he was offering something more--information. What's more, information potentially about her tribe. It was tempting, but she was pulled by another loyalty. The last thing in the world she wanted was to miss her chance to get to the island by midnight. She ran a claw subconsciously around the onyx in her neckband, the sound of the iron sliding over the stone slowly pulling her back to the moment. She met Helios's gaze.
"How long would you be willing to wait? Say, twenty-four hours?"

Neoma listened, staying silent. It kept sounding more and more like a conversation the others should have. But as she heard more, her jaw clenched tighter and she bit back a growl.
How was it only a few days ago that she was enjoying snow for the first time? Now she was sitting in blazing hot sand, listening to a group of dragons she didn't know discuss the fates of their missions.
Sand under her scales began to itch, and she squirmed.
A breeze was blowing slightly into her face, causing her eyes to dry out and hurt.
Her leg was sore and her head was beginning to pound again.
She wasn't used to going so long without water, especially in the sun like this, and her throat was dry.
Neoma was feeling overwhelmed by all the small things piling up, and before she could stop it, a small snarl crawled out of her throat.
She bit it back again, hoping no one had heard it. With their talking and how quiet it was, she assumed no one had.
Neoma took a deep breath and as calmly as she could, stated a question that would determine her next actions;
"What's in it for me?"
She paused briefly and continued.
"Whatever I do, there has to be something in it for me. We each have our own personal missions. Our own revenge to exact, something that we need to make happen. I personally feel for Helios here, because I can relate to a family issue more than other situations. I want to help you others get the justice you may deserve, but I'm not giving mine up either."
Neoma glanced at Eclipse. She didn't want to part ways with another Lunarwing, but every moment that passed made Neoma feel as though she was somehow closer and yet further from finding Milza.
Neoma took a deep breath. She didn't feel as lousy now that she had said what she had to say, but she still felt slightly troubled. She couldn't figure it out, but something in her mind told her that she was going to have to make a sacrifice if she decided to stay with any other dragon.
And suddenly, everything in her head snapped into place:
It was either stay with others and risk not getting her revenge due to working with them, or go on her own and risk all the dangers of being alone in a place she didn't know.
Neoma sighed inwardly, but not an unhappy sigh- one of relief that she knew her choices now. Of course, she still had to make her choice; but this was so much clearer now.
All these thoughts swept through Neoma's mind almost at the speed of light, and she realized she was still waiting for an answer from the others. She blinked, not having realized she was thinking so fast, and listened intently for a response.
It felt crazy, trying to recruit two Lunarwings and a Solarwing he’d just met, but with their warping Helios was sure they could break into the SD much easier. Helios glanced at Sunspot as she spoke, then toward the hovering Lunarwing, Eclipse apparently. “ Well she’s a ray of sunshine isn’t she.” He thought, trying to ignore Sunspot. It took the Lunarwing what felt like an eternity to answer, but then she did and he didn’t know what to say. Helios glanced in the direction of the Scorpion Den and nodded his head slowly. “Twenty four hours. I can do that.” He said determinedly, relief sweeping over him. It seemed that Eclipse wanted to help, or wanted his help at the very least. She just wasn’t the type to ask for it.
Then the other Lunarwing spoke, he hadn’t caught her name.

“What’s in it for me?” She said, continuing speaking for a moment.

Helios flicked his tail, sending a small avalanche of sand cascading down the dune he stood on. “I told you, information. If you don’t want that…I suppose I could help you with your mission as well.” He replied. The three dragon stood or hovered around him, all thinking about there own plans and futures, but it seemed their paths had crossed for a reason and they weren’t meant to separate just yet.

Shrike landed against Kapok’s side and tumbled to the ground, gasping.

“And any life is better than one surrounded by cage bars an chains.” He growled, glaring at Sol.
"You can't put this on me, bro," Sol retorted defensively, "I didn't bring you here. I just played my cards right, K?"
Sol smacked the LeafWing with his tail, hitting him square in the chest. He rounded quickly, bringing his fist down on the back of the green dragons head, hoping it would knock him out for at least a few moments.

Alyssia tore through the sandy dunes. Clouds of sand being spewed behind her. Sweat dripped down her back as she maxed out her speed. The wind tore at her face and she squinted, attempting to block the wind from her eyes. The sun beat on her and began to scorch her exposed arms. She smiled, it almost felt like she was back on the sea with her jet ski.
Great, now what do I do? She spun her head around for a seconds to try and see how many nightwings were still following her. She made out 5 silhouettes against the clear blue sky. Some must've left. She brought out her gun again and did one last quick look back. Judging where they were, she lifted the gun to approximately where she saw one and fired. Thunder rang through the air. Another shot. And another shot. Another quick look back told her that she had missed completely. Note to self: practice marksmanship. She focused back on the road in front of her and tried to speed up more. The bike resisted and she was stuck at her speed. Fear gripped her as she saw shadows begin creeping towards her as they were gaining on her.
Over her shoulder, she could see a NightWing swooping in on her. Alright, let's bring out the big boys. She reached for one of the three grenades she had taken in the compartments on her bike and she waited with the pin held in her mouth. The shadow closed in on her and she finally pulled, the pin sliding easily out. She threw the grenade backwards and hoped that she had hit something. Another crack of thunder and she heard a large roar. Smoke filled the air behind her and she turned to see a black figure fall out of the smoky cloud. It hit the sand sending up a large cloud of sand.
Suddenly, two Nightwings swooped at once. Her hopes dropped. Blasted dragons! She turned her gaze back towards the sand, scanning for a way to lose them. All she could see was open sand dunes for miles and miles. Not good.
She was tearing through the sand between sand hills that were like walls around her. Trapped. The dragons were closing in. She took one last desperate look at the walls around her. Wait, these look familiar. Recognition dawned on her.
Waves! They look like waves!!!
She grinned. Her confidence boosted as she turned her bike towards the sandy waves. Bracing for impact, she slowed a little and lifted the front of her bike as she got to the incline like she had done dozens of times on her jet ski. The familiarity gave her confidence back and she began to forget about the dragons behind her. It's just me and the sea. She felt her wheel slip and she quickly corrected herself. She was almost to the ridge of the wave. The shadow of the black dragon coming closer once again. She could see the talon reaching out for her.
Then she hit the gas as hard as she could. The bike returned to its previous high speed and she leapt over the ridge, her bike catching some air. She then grabbed another grenade and let it loose behind her, not looking back.
She sped on the other side of the wave. Now high up, she scanned everywhere around her and saw thousands of sand dunes but nothing else.
She heard a roar behind her and looked back to see the black dragons retreating back the way they came. Relief swept over her. Looks like they finally got tired of chasing me. She looked back and grinned. But the grin was soon replaced by fear as she saw figures ahead of her. "Oh great, more dragons." she said dreadfully. She tried to swerve away from them so she wouldn't hit them, but they were coming in fast. She didn't want to stop, though, because they could be enemies.
She looked closer as they were speedily coming closer to her. Is that different colors? Silver caught her eyes and she slowed down a little to give herself a moment to see for sure. She angled her bike slightly towards a sandy wave to go around the dragons and began her climb up it. The hum of her engine still going. She looked at them, half expecting them to turn around at hearing her. She couldn't make out if they could hear her though. She looked closer at the different dragon's colors as she got closer.
Suddenly, the sand underneath her slipped and her bike sent sideways. The bike went one way and she went the other. She flew off the bike and into the rough sand. The bike spiraled down the sand dune and she slid and rolled down the rocky sand towards the bottom. At the bottom, exhaustion began to take over her. She laid there, just wanting to rest. Alyssia forced her eyes open, but wanted to close them immediately.
The dragons were standing right there.
Oh great.

Dude- I love that so much. I do a similar thing with Phoenix and her anxiety, adding little snippets of what *my* anxiety is like to make her character more realistic.

Sunspot narrowed her eyes. Plans were quickly getting out of her control. “What exactly does this “recruitment” entail?” She questioned Helios. “I could totally just dip and leave if I wanted to and none of you would be able to stop me.”

“But you won’t. You seem smart enough to know that this plan CAN work. It will work.” He said as he turned to her, his eyes glowing with hope and determination. His scales pulsed and the starburst patterns flared up. “it has to.” He thought.

Sunspot watched him for a few more moments, searching his eyes and body language for any signs of conniving behavior. She sighed. Helios seemed genuinely convinced this was an amazing idea.

“Fine.” Sunspot said bluntly. “I’m down to go and scorch that entire city to the ground, IF these two go as well.” She gestured at Eclipse and Neoma.
