Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Sol examined his wing, loud foot steps approaching.
Tobias slid into the room, tossing his hat to the ground and wordlessly scanning over Sol's wing and flank. After a minute, Tobias stumbled back against the wall, wiping his wrist across his sweating brow, leaning against the wall.
Sol leaned over and offered the man his hat.
Tobias took it, letting his arms drop to his sides. "Oh my gosh, oh my GOSH." Tobias shouted, breathing heavily. He shook his head, pushing himself off the wall. "Gosh, I hate this Sol, I hate this."
Sol swallowed, looking away. "Hey, Tobe, I'm fine, man."
"STUPID close, Sol, stupid close."
"I'm okay, August." Sol whispered, and Tobias' head jerked up at the sound of his name.
He sighed, running a shaking hand down Sol's neck.
Sol pulled his him closer with his head. "Thank you." He spoke quietly.
Tobias nodded, pulling away. "Keep your wings back as much as possible, they stab through that membrane and everything tears. How's your shoulder?"

Roe watched from her place in the stands, wondering if Tobias would return. It was refreshing to see another person caring so deeply for their dragons.
Wren made another half hearted lunge towards the popcorn, and Roe gently pulled her back, stroking the dragonet as the announcers voice echoed through the arena.
"For our last and final round, this years SandWing Rally last two competitors, we have Tobias' Sol," the crowd erupted, "and Double J's Sledge."
Wren shrunk back, the loud shouts overwhelming, her scales flashing bright green. Roe pulled her close, whispering softly.
A few moments passed, and a loud chant began. Wren stood up suddenly, balancing on her hind legs unsteadily. She fell back against Roe, who winced, gently lifting the dragonet and leaning forward. Wren tried to scramble back into the bag as the crowds chanting grew louder, but Roe held right, shushing the dragonet as the noise died down.
It happened surprisingly fast- all the sudden Sol was on the screen rolling through the sand, an enormous SandWing clinging to him as they tumbled.
A moment later Sol was up, blood dripping from his back left leg.
A lot of blood.
Roe pulled Wren close as Sol turned back, blasting fire at the wound to quickly cauterize the injury. Roe worried it wouldn't be enough, but the SandWing, who had been vibing with the crowd, had suddenly turned back, lifting into the sky, his back talons outstretched. Sol took a few quick steps back, obviously favoring his leg, then dropped.
The SandWing's back talon caught Sol's left wing, yanking the SolarWing up and into the air.
Roe bit her lip as Sol hung limply, the SandWing throwing him to the ground and landing nearby.
Sol leapt to his feet, then wheeled around, small whisps of steam issuing from his scales.
The SandWing raised his tail, charging Sol.
Roe jerked his gaze up to the screen, the dragons colliding once again, a mix of gold and red scales.
The crowd cheered nervously as the dragons tumbled through the sand, no one able to make sense of the quick movements. It went on for another minute- and Roe gasped, so tense she had forgotten to breath.
Wren backed quickly into Roe again, and this time Roe actually gagged, the pain in her stomach from that afternoon still sending a dull ache through her entire body.
She repositioned Wren in her arms, quicky lifting her gaze to the screen.
Both dragons now lay limply in the sand, the crowd silent. The camera angles grabbed a few different shots, Sol's leg staining the sand crimson, his neck and side also dripping blood. The SandWing's face was charred, and he lay unmoving in the sand, his entire body smoldering. The SandWing was dead. But Sol didn't appear to be any better off.
Roe moaned softly, taking a deep breath and swallowing hard. The announcer was saying something- but Roe was in a daze, Wren seemed to feed off of her emotions, her scales shifting to a pale blue grey.
Suddenly the arena door slid open and a man sprinted out, heading straight for the limp SolarWing.
Roe stood, letting Wren clumsily scramble up her shoulder.

Tobias fell to the ground beside Sol, shaking his head slowly.
Sol heaved a strangled breath, his open eyes blinking repeatedly.
"Sol?" Tobias whispered, clearing his throat, "Sol." He reached out, immediately pulling his fingers back, Sol's scales still searing hot.
The red dragon shuddered, shaking at Tobias' quick touch. He lifted his head, and the crowd erupted.
"Sol. Sol, stand up." Tobias ordered shakily.
Sol moaned, turning onto his side.
"Sol, get up." Tobias repeated the order.
Sol obeyed, getting his back feet under him, his left wing completely wrenched out of socket.
Tobias reached out again, snapping his hand back quickly. He shoved his fingers into his mouth, burning his tounge, then wiped them against his pants, Sol still trying to stand.
The crowd had quieted considerably and Tobias turned back to wave off the medic crew, who froze, unsure of what to do next.
Sol suddenly stood, putting his front weight on his right wing, which shook unsteadily. He looked up, giving Tobias a weak grin.
The crowd clapped politely as Sol limped towards the exit, Tobias carefully positioning himself under his limp wing.

The moment they exited the arena, Sol faltered, leaning against the wall and breathing heavily. He couldn't see. He couldn't make sense of anything. He could hardly breath, and that scared him badly as he gasped desperately. "Tobias-"
Tobias beckoned the medic crew as the doors shut, and he turned to Sol, grabbing the dragons neck and leaning his head against his friend. "God knows I nearly died running out there to you." He breathed.
Sol shook harder, seeing blurry shapes slowly gather around him.
"Tobe- Tobias.. oh... Tobe-.. bias." Sol repeated wildly, poison tingling painfully throughout his entire body.
"Good job, buddy." Tobias whispered, "You're doing a good job, buddy."
"I can't-" Sol gasped, "I can't... see."
Through all the dull throbbing Sol didn't think much of the sharp prick in the neck, but a moment later when he slid to the ground in a heap, the word steadily growing brighter, he realized what it was.
"You're doing a good job, pal. A good job." Tobias repeated.
Sol's eyes drooped shut before he was completely asleep, the words bouncing around his mind, "Good job, Sol."

(WHY'D THAT TAKE ME FORTY MINUTES TO WRITE, MAN?! 😭😫

It happened *yay*)
OMG STOP
HOLY CRAP THIS IS GOOD

Whitestar was still reeling from the bombardment of information from the Nightwing when Alyssia piped up, adding to the sudden influx of things he was trying to run through his mind. He had his own questions that he wanted to ask, like, why was there a NIGHTWING telling him where the dragons were? He couldn't help but let the spikes alone his spine rise defensively at the sight of the black dragon. But the Nightwing had seen a--no--two Lunarwings. Good news, one of them was probably Eclipse. Bad news. It didn't sound like it was a battle they had won. But that aroused its own questions. Eclipse wasn't alone? She was with another Lunarwing... one of her own. He didn't dare think what that might mean.
He didn't have hardly any time to dwell on these thoughts, however, when Alyssia suddenly began chattering excitedly.
"Whitestar! Lunarwing is silver? And eyes indigo blue?" she paused a moment, thinking then she looked back toward him and gestured toward her eye looking triumphant. "Orange ring in eye."
Whitestar felt his breath catch in his throat. Both the Nightwing--Blackout apparently--and Alyssia had seen the same Lunarwing. She had definitely been through here, and the young Nightwing might even know how to get her out of The Den. He met Alyssia's gaze, trying to keep down his anxiety so as not to scare her.
"Yes," he said, his tail quivering with excitement. "The silver dragon, with the indigo eyes and the one gold ring. Her name is Eclipse." He turned toward Blackout. "I have to get her back. She's-" he paused a moment reevaluating his words. "She's a close friend of mine." he hesitated again. "Who... who specifically was she with? Who was the other Lunarwing?"
Panic seemed to begin in the white dragon as Alyssia explained. Though, he regained his composure and turned towards the one named Blackout. Wait, so her name is Eclipse! she thought.
"She's a close friend of mine," the deep voice said. Alyssia noticed the hesitation and cocked her head questioningly. She looked at the dragon, he seemed to be fine outwardly, but the eyes told a different story. She saw panic and worry. The eyes reveal so much, she thought. She looked over at the nightwing, waiting to see if it would respond while she herself was trying to figure out if she knew anything about this Lunarwing. All she could remember were the eyes and the silent promise in the dire situation that she would protect her, but she had failed in protecting the dragon. She was just a small human compared to the giant dragons she had encountered. Her small form was useless against giant fighting creatures like that. She was useless in protecting anyone of those dragons that she came in contact with. Am I really that useless? She thought, beginning to discourage herself. No! she countered. I'm not useless! I'm going to get them out because I got these dragons into this mess in the first place. And from that point on, she started to create a plan of sorts. Remembering that this nightwing was from the place they called the Scorpion Den, she grinned to herself. Oh, this will be fun.

Helios finally awoke to the sounds of humans and other dragons. His vision was hazy and the lights were all together far too bright, but he was awake.
Sol!” He immediately thought, lifting his head up and looking around only to have a splitting headache at the sudden movement. He closed his eyes and clutched his head with his talons, trying to ease the pain. He opened his eyes once more, seeing he was surrounded by a metal cage. “What sun cursed idiots those humans are, I can just melt my way through.” He thought with a cocky grin. He got up on his hind legs and wrapped his talons around the cages bars, all the while his headache worsening. He tried his flamescales, pressing them against the metal. “Any second now….” He thought determinedly. But after several seconds, nothing happened. He tried again, building up the fire within himself, but it was no use. It was like his fire had been extinguished. Unbeknownst to him, the humans had given him a drug that temporarily removed his ability to use fire.
He slashed his claws across the bars, pressing his scales up against them and trying again to melt his way through. No luck.
He looked around, realizing he wasn’t alone. (Is Neoma still In the same room?)
yep she is! she's in the cage in between helios and eclipse.

I will rp to this after @Harmonylight picks up with Blackout

Crest's eyes shot open as he heard movement in the other cage. Turning his head slightly towards the noise, he noticed that it was King Helios' cage. He watched silently as the giant dragon tried to force his way out of the cage. He watched as the king slashed at the cage with no luck. Interesting, he can't use his flame on the cage....I wonder what they could've done to him. He continued to watch then as the giant dragon finally ceased and looked around the room. Crest tried to move, the pain from his injuries feeling better than the day before. The rebellious way he had acted the first day he had been there had given him several rounds of punishment. He assumed that was why he hadn't been auctioned off yet. Not completely healed from all of his injuries, nobody would buy a dragon at half capacity. He continued to stare in the direction of King Helios and tried to stand in his cage. His wings had gotten used to the feeling of being cramped and his mouth to the cold metal of the muzzle. His legs wobbled slightly, but forcing himself up, he stretched and began to move his aching muscles as much as possible. The humans will be here soon to check up on me.

Eclipse peeked an eye out from behind her wing, blinking sleep away at the sound of the humans voice. He apparently could also speak dragon, even better than the human Eclipse had met in the desert. She glanced up to see who he was talking to. The new room they were in was large and secure, with more of the bright white lights embedded in the ceiling. There were four other cages in the room. Two of them were open and empty and another had a large grey Mudwing curled inside. A small Cloudwing was watching the scene skeptically from across the room, and a large brown Leafwing bounded clumsily across the space with a large chunk of frozen meat hanging from his jaws.
The last cage was open as well, but the dragon still lay inside. Eclipse lifted her head in shock when she recognize the bright red scales of Sol. The Solarwing looked horrible. A large wound was torn in the side of his leg, neatly stitched together with tough black thread, and there was a long slice torn in the membrane on his wing. The Leafwing dropped the meat beside her and then turned toward Sol's human, who was kneeling in the cage with the red dragon, his head rested on Sol's neck.
Eclipse glanced at the food sitting on the ground outside her cage and felt her stomach growl. In the stress of her first day in the Den, she had completely forgotten to even feel hungry. She reached a talon through the bars and clawed at the solid meat, managing to pull off a small strip of the frozen flesh. But as she pulled it into the cage with her, she remembered with a dejected huff that she couldn't eat because of the vibrating band closed over her snout, and she sighed, glancing back at Sol's human.

Neoma awoke from her nap. After having scared the humans and hidden the sharp metal spears under her body, she had fallen asleep, due to the lasting effects of the sedative.
She lifted her head. Eclipse was back, and as Neoma turned her head to look to the other side, she saw Helios looking around too. Seeing he was awake, Neoma gave a nod, as she couldn't offer a smile.
The smile would've been a forced one anyways, seeing as she didn't have much of a reason to smile in here.
Neoma looked ahead, and saw the Solarwing that Eclipse had been talking to earlier lying in an open cell. If it weren't for the muzzle keeping her jaw shut, she would've stared in openmouthed surprise.
She settled for surprise without the open mouth.
The human was leaning against the dragon, with a tired and concerned look on his tiny pale face.
He wasn't trying to hurt the dragon, he seemed... genuinely caring.
Neoma knew that if dragons were forced to fight out there, they would return worse for the wear. But she didn't realize that not all the humans wanted their dragons to be hurt.
I'd rather be 'owned' by someone who didn't want me dead for sure. She thought suddenly, then shook herself. You're not going to be 'owned' by anyone!!
Neoma's own mind was starting to think about the possibility of fighting for a human. Of course, not by willingness, but by force...
And yet still it felt as though her mind betrayed her.
But it hadn't, seeing as she was working on plans to escape.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a Seawing stand up shakily.
Neoma turned her head to look at him. She hadn't noticed him at first, but now as she looked, he was scarred and looked as though he wasn't feeling perfectly well.
Sick. Neoma thought. Have they been withholding him from water?? Awful. That can turn a Seawing insane.
Her parents had told her of what different dragons needed to survive, and withholding a Seawing's water was like removing someone's food. It made Neoma angry. This was basically a torture chamber!
Except for some... Neoma looked back at the Solarwing who was being tended to by his human. He seemed to care.
Thank goodness someone in here cared.

I am really starting to love Neoma lol. Also, Eclipse and Sol are in Tobias' lot in "the maze" under the den, they aren't near Neoma and the others. Was this before they were moved to Tobias' lot?

Alyssia watched as Whitestar drew on the ground. Three circles...cities, eyes, moons? Her confusion was lifted as he blew ice on them, giving them a silvery color. Instantly, the image of the three moons came to her mind. She tried connecting the dragon and the moons, racking the knowledge of dragons she had learned in school. Moon dragons? She couldn't recall anything from her classes about it. Her head spun towards the sound of rustling and she gasped at the sight of one of the same dragons that had attacked her earlier. She looked him over and saw that he was standing non-threateningly. The dragon began to ramble on about something and she only caught a couple of words. His name was Blackout and he attacked them. She also heard the word Lunarwings and it dawned on her that that was what the moons meant. The silver dragon with the indigo eyes and the orange ring around one came to mind as she tried to listen to more. Once the nightwing finished, she smiled shyly. This one didn't seem to be trying to attack them. Maybe this one is different. Still skeptical, she looked at him, trying to lock eyes and answered, "Hi Blackout. Me Alyssia." Then, realization dawned on her about the lunarwing and she turned towards Whitestar again, ignoring the nightwing momentarily. "Whitestar! Lunarwing is silver? And eyes indigo blue?" She tried to think of something else specific about the silver dragon she had tried to protect. She pictured those eyes that she had stared into, trying to give reassurance in the middle of a battle. Suddenly it hit her, "Orange ring in eye." she said triumphantly. Maybe this is the dragon he's looking for.
Whitestar was still reeling from the bombardment of information from the Nightwing when Alyssia piped up, adding to the sudden influx of things he was trying to run through his mind. He had his own questions that he wanted to ask, like, why was there a NIGHTWING telling him where the dragons were? Blackout listened as the human introduced herself in Dragonese, flicking an ear back in light surprise. He hadn't encountered many humans outside the Den that knew any Dragonese.
As he listened more, it seemed that the small human was telling- Whitestar apparently- something he wanted to hear. Something about an orange ring in her eye?
He thought back to the eyes he had looked into during the battle. They were not ringed with orange... no. They were more of a shining deep periwinkle.
"She's a close friend of mine." Whitestar was speaking to him now, and Blackout's attention snapped back to the Icewing, dragging his thoughts away from the strange Lunarwing he had fought. The way that Whitestar had hesitated before saying 'close friend'....
"I'm not sure who it was that she was with." Blackout responded to Whitestar's query slowly. He looked at the Icewing, and for some reason understood a thought that neither of them spoke aloud.
"She was much smaller, and didn't look much like- Eclipse, you said?" Blackout hoped that Whitestar had caught the word 'she'.
Blackout looked back at the little human, who, though he wasn't a human, he had spent enough time around them to know some of their expressions.
The best way to describe this look was one of mischief.
Blackout smirked in amusement. The determination the human had was evident on her face, and made him want to laugh.
He nudged Whitestar, snorting lightly.
"Look at that. Looks like she's got an idea... from experience when they look like that, there's always something going on in their heads!" He chuckled. He wished again he knew more Human. He had never needed to, because in the Den while being trained and ridden, most of the humans had known Dragonese and been fluent in it.

I am really starting to love Neoma lol. Also, Eclipse and Sol are in Tobias' lot in "the maze" under the den, they aren't near Neoma and the others. Was this before they were moved to Tobias' lot?
lol thanks!
oh whoops, let's say yes! i misunderstood something and thought everyone was still in the same room, so let's say this was just before everyone was separated haha
