Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Eclipse hesitated at the order before nodding firmly and turning to bound across the lot. She slid carefully around the door of what was once her cage and carefully scooped the pack of strange tools off the ground in her injured talon. She had almost forgotten about her missing claw, and she thought guiltily about Neoma and the others. But she didn't have time for those thoughts right now. She backed out of the cage and started back toward Tobias and Sol, using her left wing-thumb to help balance her as she padded quickly and somewhat clumsily toward the other cage. She positioned herself again beside the cage and held her talon awkwardly through the bars to Tobias.
"Is he going to be okay?" she murmured worriedly.

"He'll be fine." Tobias reassured, watching Sol's eyes droop shut. "He shouldn't be awake yet. His body isn't ready."
He reached for the bag, giving Eclipse a thankful nod as he racked through it's contents, coming up with a small thermometer. "105." Tobias whispered aloud. "Oh, gosh." He shoved the thermometer back in the bag, replacing it with a large towel. He stood, kicking his bag gently to the corner, then bent down to clean the vomit.
"Eclipse, is your foreleg hurt? Why'nt you tell me? What happened to it?"

Eclipse glanced down at her claw and curled it in self-consciously. "It's just the claw. It's wrenched out. I... the other Lunarwing I was with... It's actually a funny story," she forced a wry smile, still watching Sol. "She is trying to get revenge on her sister or something--I'm not fully sure why. She thought I was her and she attacked me. It escalated a bit and this was more of a final strike before she gave up." She lifted the claw to inspect it. "It's... it's nothing major."

Tobias glanced up, squinting at the injury. "Is it out of socket? How long's it been?"
He took one final swipe over everything, eliminating any mess, folding the towel into a ball and walking quickly over to a large clean garbage bin.

Eclipse watched Tobias pace across the lot still sitting in her spot next to Sol's cage. "Time is a little... iffy in this place," she said, trying to guess how long she'd been there. "It was the night before Imperial was full," she said slowly. "So, I don't know, two days? Three maybe?" She inspected it closely for the first time since receiving the injury. It didn't look like the bone itself had been pulled out, but she could feel and sort of see the gap where the claw should be beneath the dried blood. Some of the flesh on the end of her talon was torn around the missing claw. She shook her head, unsure.
"I don't know, I never really paid attention to it. I was kind of in a hurry to-" she broke off as the memory came slamming back. The island. The full moon. Her neckband. Her other talon flew up out of habit toward the now empty spot where it normally rested and her shoulders drooped.

Tobias walked slowly towards the SolarWing. "Who were those other dragons you came in with? Was... One of the was Sol's father- right?"

Eclipse nodded. "King Helios. He stopped us while we were traveling and asked for help finding his son here. Originally, I turned him down, but he was so desperate and scared..." she sighed. "Looks like I didn't have much choice in the end anyway. Well, that might not be completely true. If Sunspot--the other Solarwing--hadn't decided to take on a freaking army we might have had a chance." She passed rubbing her temples and closing her eyes to calm down a little. "Neoma was-... is the other Lunarwing. She was just sticking with me for a little while. I feel bad she got dragged into this. And that other human--wait. Did she get away?"

The red dragon she was talking to snapped her gaze towards her as soon as she spoke, and it startled Alyssia slightly. Her draw dropped as she understood completely the next sentence that the dragon spoke to her. This dragon knows English!!! Her heart leaped and she sighed in relief. Finally! No more confusing dragonese! "Hello! I am Apple, and this is my twin brother, Bamboo. How do you do small human?" She smiled at the kind greeting. She hadn't gotten a greeting like that from any dragon she'd met so far. So many cold looks or fearful looks, like she was some sort of monster. But, this dragon, this one seemed so loving and kind. Alyssia's smile grew wider as she heard the one named Bamboo mutter something about English to the others. They can't understand us can they. There was more mutterin in Dragonese and Alyssia caught something about being blind. She looked back at the eyes of this dragon and wondered if she could be blind. Alyssia opened her mouth to answer Apple when the one named Bamboo come bounding over to her like a child. She took a few steps back as the dragon came up to her face and gave a very emphatic "Helloooooo!" She giggled at the dragons playfulness and decided to be playful back. She stuck out her hand and bopped him on the nose. Even louder than her small pat was the large "Thwack!" that sounded behind Bamboo. Apple's tail had whipped around and knocked Bamboo hard.
Alyssia fell to her knees with laughter. Never had she seen a funnier pair of dragons. Getting back to her feet, she looked at Apple again. "I'm doing quite well, Miss Apple," she added with a smile. "How are you and your brother this fine day?" She took a step towards the dragon, her eyes peaking Alyssia's curiosity.
Whitestar tensed as Apple reached out to touch him before quickly jerking her talon back, as if realizing the possible discomfort. The young Rainwing looked like she was trying to control her composure as much as Whitestar was, and he saw the edges of her wings and ruff ripple light green before she seemed to force them back to their original colors. That's right, he thought, recalling a brief memory of learning about Rainwing scales, as Apple started chattering with Alyssia. Rainwing's scales change with their emotions unless they intentionally change them back.
He watched Alyssia and Apple converse a moment, lost in thought, only half listening to Bamboo's teasing muttering about his sister. Suddenly, the green Rainwing looked straight at him, his scales rippling distractingly with excitement.
"Oh- woah you're blind too?!"
Whitestar jolted at the comment, snapping out of his thoughts to turn and look at the Rainwing in surprise.
Apple hissed irritably at her brother and Bamboo immediately bounded away toward Alyssia, already distracted from his previous question. Blackout started laughing at the Rainwing's comment and Whitestar shifted his wings in embarrassment. He watched Alyssia and Bamboo's playful interaction before answering.
"No, I am not blind," he said after a moment turning his attention to Apple. "Don't worry about your brother, it's not the first time someone has asked." He gave her a small controlled smile and then remembered she couldn't see. He glanced back at Bamboo a moment before continuing.
"Are you two... twins?" It was hard to ignore the pang of guilt and longing that began clawing toward his heart, and he forced the thought away. We aren't diving into that dark water right now. Eclipse needs you to stay focused right now.
Bamboo held his nose, feigning offense. "How rude!" He said haughtily, and Apple translated, rolling her sightless eyes. "Speaking of rude, you could've been a little more subtle to the Icy dragon over there!" She hissed at Bamboo.
Hearing Whitestar in the background reassure her, she tried to calm her scales again. "It's not the first time you've heard it? That's interesting, maybe that's the difference between truly blind dragons and not blind dragons; blind dragons normally aren't asked because it's so obvious."
Alyssia seemed curious about Apple's eyes, and though she couldn't see her, Apple smiled in her direction.
As Alyssia stepped closer and asked how they were, Apple lowered her head so the human could get a better look. She wasn't unused to others having a curiosity about her eyes, and was actually glad this one at least seemed polite about it.
A few feet away, she heard Whitestar ask, "Are you two... twins?"
Without lifting her head so that Alyssia could keep inspecting her eyes, Apple answered. "Yes we are. We are 20 now, hatched from the same egg."
Bamboo grinned at all of them.
"So- whatcha all been talkin about?" He asked with a chipper tone.
Apple flicked her ears, not scolding her brother for asking- truth was, she was equally curious.
