Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Eclipse nodded. "King Helios. He stopped us while we were traveling and asked for help finding his son here. Originally, I turned him down, but he was so desperate and scared..." she sighed. "Looks like I didn't have much choice in the end anyway. Well, that might not be completely true. If Sunspot--the other Solarwing--hadn't decided to take on a freaking army we might have had a chance." She passed rubbing her temples and closing her eyes to calm down a little. "Neoma was-... is the other Lunarwing. She was just sticking with me for a little while. I feel bad she got dragged into this. And that other human--wait. Did she get away?"

Tobias arched his brow, "A human? Yeah, I don't know." He sighed. "Eclipse... have you ever cared about.. like, us all," he shook his head, motioning around the lot, "getting along?" He paced over to Sol's cage, sitting down and leaning against the bars. "Humans and dragons? In The Den, we're on top. Outside of The Den, you're on top. I wish.. I wish there was a compromise. I wish," he leaned his head back on the bars, looking up at the ceiling, "I wish the Scorpion Den wasn't a death trap." He hesitated. "Gosh, It's just a death trap."

Bamboo held his nose, feigning offense. "How rude!" He said haughtily, and Apple translated, rolling her sightless eyes. "Speaking of rude, you could've been a little more subtle to the Icy dragon over there!" She hissed at Bamboo.
Hearing Whitestar in the background reassure her, she tried to calm her scales again. "It's not the first time you've heard it? That's interesting, maybe that's the difference between truly blind dragons and not blind dragons; blind dragons normally aren't asked because it's so obvious."
Alyssia seemed curious about Apple's eyes, and though she couldn't see her, Apple smiled in her direction.
As Alyssia stepped closer and asked how they were, Apple lowered her head so the human could get a better look. She wasn't unused to others having a curiosity about her eyes, and was actually glad this one at least seemed polite about it.
A few feet away, she heard Whitestar ask, "Are you two... twins?"
Without lifting her head so that Alyssia could keep inspecting her eyes, Apple answered. "Yes we are. We are 20 now, hatched from the same egg."
Bamboo grinned at all of them.
"So- whatcha all been talkin about?" He asked with a chipper tone.
Apple flicked her ears, not scolding her brother for asking- truth was, she was equally curious.
Blackout glanced at the others. His questioning look was clear- 'Should we tell them?'
He looked over and saw the patience with which Apple was treating Alyssia and speaking to her. A blind sweet dragon couldn't hurt them too much, and a silly goof of a dragon didn't seem to want to.
He shrugged at Whitestar, leaning a little closer in the hopes that Apple wouldn't be able to hear them as he murmured, "What harm is it going to do to tell them? If anything, they may know some things that can help us. Maybe we should.... I don't know.... Well...."
He trailed off, unsure if he was suggesting a good thing in the first place. From the way Apple was flicking her ears in their direction though, Blackout assumed she had heard that they were discussing whether to share it or not.
"Uh- sorry.... private conversation...?" Blackout said awkwardly.
Apple turned pink again. "Yep! Sorry- sorry- it's instinct to try to listen at this point..." She chuckled in embarrassment.

Blackout's question jerked Whitestar out of his silent spiral into darker memories. Get ahold of yourself, she thought furiously. He turned to look at the two calm, colorful dragons. He knew their scales could turn invisible, and they possessed a deadly poison that could probably kill a human on contact. But he wasn't sure if these Rainwings would be able to handle the Den. It was a dangerous and sickening place. But there wasn't much to risk in telling them anyway. He glanced at Blackout and gave the slightest nod.

Eclipse stared blankly at him. She wasn't sure what to make of his comment. It was obvious to any dragon there that the Scorpion Den was a living nightmare. But a human? They ran the place. They ruled it. This world of chains and bars, fighting and death, hunger, thirst, torture--it was all built and turned by the hands of man. So how could Tobias see that, where other humans didn't?
Silence stretched between them for what felt like an eternity, each caught up in their own thoughts.
"You seem to already be finding a little bit of your own compromise," she said slowly, her gaze shifting back to Sol. "That dragon might have been dead by now. But he's not. Any other dragon might have thought of that as a relief--the only way out of this viper pit. But you have offered him something that he obviously can't let go of. His father was out there. His own father. And he didn't stay with him. He followed you. You have given him shelter in this place, as a friend and an equal, and three moons Tobias, if that's not a compromise, I don't know what is." She leveled her gaze on the human, locking eyes with him.

(Um, should we just say everyone else is having a different conversation or are napping or something, because I totally forgot they were even there XD )

Tobias' mouth opened and closed for a moment- unsure of what to say.
He looked back at Sol, then straightened, looking dead ahead. "So many dragons were born here." He breathed. "So many..." He shook his head, "couldn't survive in the wild." He leaned back on the cage again, staring at the ceiling. "It's survival of the fittest." Tobias whispered. "Oh, this place is hell." He closed his eyes, moaning slightly.
"Sol's is why I'm here. Our relationship- it brought us SO far. If I lost him- everything's gone. But that's not why I love him." Tobias turned to Eclipse. "I love him because he's my brother."
Tobias blinked hard, regret crowing his mind. "We need to get out of here." He whispered. "You- you need to get out of here."

Eclipse couldn't stop her jaw from dropping in surprise. "But... but how? No one escapes this place--it's the Scorpion Den. That human, even she couldn't get away, and she's not even a dragon. It's not just dragons that are stuck here. It's anyone who understands them, anyone who wants to save them." She lowered her voice bending her head down toward him. "Tobias they would kill you. Just like the rest of us." She paused for a long moment, staring at the ground, her shoulders falling with discouragement. Eclipse glanced at the other three, her mind turning, and she hesitated before continuing. "Do you even know a way out?"
