Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Eclipse laughed. Ever since meeting Sunspot, Eclipse had never expected to see the Solarwing genuinely happy about anything. She seemed prickly and distant around everyone else, and nothing seemed to appease her.
But something was different now.
"If only what," Eclipse pressed, shifting as the transport swung again, the sound of the gunfire on the metal fainter.

The SolarWing shook her head. “It’s nothing,” she said, looking back at the door, listening to the sounds of gunfire outside. “Just- nevermind, it’s stupid. The important part is we’re alive and out of that death pit.” Sunspot grinned, but the gesture was a little strained.

Eclipse felt her smile slowly fade. She shifted on her talons, her gaze drifting back to the damaged doors. She wanted to know what Sunspot was thinking, but she didn't want to push the Solarwing away by prying. This was the first time something in Sunspot was finally peering from behind her mask--a mask Eclipse hadn't even noticed existed until that moment. It was sobering how much the Solarwing's shielded demeanor mirrored her own. The same sort of wall that they set between themselves and the world.
Eclipse knew better than to try and push past it.
"Thanks, Sunspot," she muttered, turning and leveling her gaze on the Solarwing, then she turned and paced to the back of the transport.
One of the corners was mostly deserted of all other dragons and riddled with tiny dents from where the bullets had pommelled it. Eclipse swept the deformed blobs of metal away with her tail and slid onto the floor, keeping her head raised alertly as she listened to the sound of the chaos ensuing outside.

“Yeah, no problem,” Sunspot responded, glancing at Eclipse before turning her gaze back towards the door.

Stupid, stupid. She cursed herself. She’d nearly slipped. Slipped back into the dark, the memories, the last place she wanted to be, and what’s worse? She nearly let another dragon in on it. She let out a small growl, shoving the emotions back. But it was too late.

If only Spark could see me now, Sunspots traitorous brain whispered. She ignored the tears that pricked her eyes with a hiss, turning away from the others.

Nic coughed as the sound of bullets rung in his ears. He forced his eyes open and saw that he wasn't in the SD. Pain radiated from his left side and his wrist. Groaning, he tried to straighten himself up. Coughing again, he felt warm liquid trickle from the corner of his mouth

SORRY I won't be active till Mon. And I couldn't get on till now.

Great, now she’s mad at you.

Corvus was back at the lake, absentmindedly tossing rocks into the clear water. He sighed. She’ll come back eventually. She always does.

A slight breeze ruffled the black CloudWings feathers, tempting him to fly. But Corvus would personally rather die than run into someone he knew.

Probably ran straight back to King.
Corvus’s ears pinned at the thought.

I’m not going to let him get in between me and her. What could I tell Phoenix that would make her stay away from him?

She wouldn’t hear it coming from me. I’d have to find a real reason, because she always sees straight through me. Can’t hide anything from her. A set up, maybe?

Hmmm.

True to Fracture's prediction, the opposite door to Gables' right swung open, Rose stumbling in, dropping to the floor a moment later. Gables' eyes were drawn to her marred leg, and he gasped quietly. A lot of blood.
Fracture was quick to the point, leaning against the bars, " Rose." She whispered, trying to catch the dragon's eye in the dim light. "Rose, it's Fracture. And Gables. Jabez is behind us, do you know anyth.." Fracture trailed off when the door didn't close, a tall, lanky figure stepping through the threshold, pushing the door shut behind him.
Gables gripped the cell bars, breathing heavily, "Ferrin, you s-" Fracture elbowed him in the ribs and Gables scowled, taking a step away from the tall woman.
"Don't finish that sentence." She warned, her accent making each word increasingly threatening.
Ferrin knelt beside Rose, running a hand down her flank, hardly seeming to notice Gables practically fuming behind him.
"You messed up." Gables spat.
"I saved your life." Ferrin retorted the moment Gables finished his accusation, as if the businessman had been dying to defend himself.
"But not her!" Gables shouted, and Fracture stood up beside him, her tall frame dwarfing Gables muscular build.
"They will come if they sense the prisoners are being disturbed." She warned.
Gables swore, clenching the bars. "I don't care, Fracture." He said quickly, swallowing hard, "Dadgummit, I don't care."
"Oh, shut up, Gables," Ferrin scoffed in a drawling tone as he opened the briefcase. "Do not say things you will regret."
"You act like your on our side." Gables hissed. "But your no better than them, you killed her, Ferrin! You're the reason she's dead."
Fracture pushed Gables against the wall, and he retaliated, shoving her back, his fists raised.
"They will come," Fracture repeated in a half desperate tone, raising her hands in submission, "do not do something you regret."
Gables looked away, spitting. He paced to the opposite side of the cell, slamming his fist against the wall.
Fracture glanced at Ferrin, who met her gaze momentarily as he walked around Rose, beginning to dab at her wounded leg with gauze. "No matter what you may believe, I am on your side. I regret what happened to Gongll." He repositioned himself, shushing Rose as she flinched. "But living in regret of past mistakes never did anyone any good."
I regret what happened to Gongll.
What was that supposed to mean? She couldn’t be dead…not now, not after all this. What became of her dragons? Jyn? Qi’ra? This wasn’t happening.
It couldn’t be.

Tam….is Roe….?” She asked softly, a far away look in her eyes. Who else had perished unknown to her so far?

Hmmm.
King left the hatchery that morning with the still sleeping dragonet nestled in his pack, it’s quiet snoring noises assuring him it was still breathing. “I need to find Osprey…where is he? Hmm, meetings at 11:00 and 12:00 is what he said last. Probably at the town center.” He thought, walking rather slowly to avoid waking the silver hatchling. Heron and Redwing gave him quizzical looks as he passed the training grounds, wondering why their team leader was carrying around a dragonet all of the sudden.
“He’s a rescue from the last compound hit. Hatched last night.” He explained, and they nodded in understanding, though still chuckling to themselves and saying their leader had taken up babysitting. King rolled his eyes and chuckled as well, knowing he’d have a much harder time explaining it to Osprey and enjoying the morning while he could. He arrived at the town center and rapped on the door with his talons four times before a tall Rainwing dragoness answered the door. “Hello, come right on in dear. Just have a seat over there in the lobby and I’ll send an assistant to get you when Lark is ready to see you.” She said with a kind smile.

“Oh actually I’m here to see Osprey, Nest leader.” He corrected and she gave him a funny look.
“He’s not exactly keen on visitors…but I’ll see what I can do.” She said slowly, her scales shifting from dark blue to light purple.
“Thank you.” He responded.

“Titmouse will you please run up to the third floor and tell Osprey someone’s here to see him.” She said, stooping down and looking a small dusky grey cloudwing in the eyes while she waited patiently for orders. “Yes mam!”

Phoenix flew over Grebes Nest, catching a thermal and rising in lazy circles. Why was Corvus being so picky? Why should she care if he didn’t like someone just because he was jealous?

She gritted her teeth, smoke rising from her feathers. She assumed he’d stormed off to mope. Again.

Phoenix scanned the village below, watching the busy paths filled with scales and feathers. As she neared the center of the town, she spotted Kings distinctive blue feathers. She wondered if he was busy.

She spiraled down anyways and landed in the town center. She hoped to not draw too much attention to herself, and hurried up to King. She hesitated a few steps away, wondering if this was a good idea.
