Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Harnessing your inner pain makes the effects last longer

"Well, since you obviously weren't paying attention, we are all supposed to be hunting some fugitives who escaped after the rebellion breakout this morning." He set his talon back on the ground, leveling his gaze on the red dragon.
"I was instructed to meet with a pair of dragons from separate research facilities. My superiors want to split the reward and they needed a more efficient strategy." He wrinkled his snout at the dragon and glanced at the Rainwing hybrid with a small scoff.
"Although, I'm beginning to question their ideas of 'efficient.'"
“Great, another thing that they chose me for,” Ajax growled under his breath. He continued to glare at the dragon, his anger radiating off of his scales.

Alicanto raked his gaze over the two dragons, a sneer curling on the corners of his mouth.
These are the dragons the professor wants me to work with? Either this Rainwing mutation is too dumb to speak or too scared. Either way, it's underwhelming.
"So, do you two actually know what you're doing, or do I have to explain the entire gist of bounty hunting?"
Perhaps the red one had at least a vague idea of how to fight and hunt like a real soldier, but to Alicanto, the Rainwing hybrid looked dumb as a doornail. He suppressed a growl of frustration. The dumb ones were always the most annoying.

Gen cocked his head, slowly turning his gaze to Alicanto. "I understand what must be done."

Ferrin sighed, listening to the phone dial. The car jerked forward, and he considered reprimanding the driver.
Gables answered. "Is everything okay?" He sounded annoyed.
"Fine. They are sending that SDP hybrid your way."
Gables hesitated to respond. "Oh, that's just fine, thanks,  Ferrin."
"Tobias knows him. A connection through the SolarWing, I believe." Ferrin glanced at the driver, unable to explain further. "Is he awake?"
"No."
Ferrin dragged a hand down his face. "Tell him... The hybrid.. needs to be brought back."
"What."
"Tell him that, Gables. Tell him he's just like Sol."
"Who, Tobe or the hybrid?"
Ferrin rolled his eyes, able to hear the smile in Gables tone. He hung up.
The driver swerved left, Ferrin scowled, sliding against the door, too distracted to say anything regarding the chauffeur's driving skills. The Scorpion Den was sending three of their best assassins to track down Tobias, and ultimately, the rebellion. The rebellion had caught The Den completely off guard- they had easily escaped, unable to be tracked down in the confusion. It had all been so meticulously planned. Ferrin was proud.
But now-.. Now, The Scorpion Den sent their very best hunters to seek out the rebellion. Dragons bred for the sole purpose of killing. Dragons unable to be reasoned with. Expect one. And Ferrin had worked for years to keep it that way. Infact, he had been the one to create this dragon, he had been the one who gave the order to erase it's mind countless times, playing his position well until the time was right.
Key words. That was the trick. It could bring the hybrid back easily. And Tobias knew a few- he just had to use them.
Tobias knew this dragon. And Ferrin prayed the hybrid would remember him. But clearing an entire memory was a risky business- without the proper tests, there was no telling what the dragon could or could not remember. He could remember Sol. Ferrin was certain of that.
Ferrin took a deep breath, reminiscing back to five years ago, reminiscing the day he chose Sol as a test subject for 14A.
Oh, how he regretted it.
But Sol was a perfect candidate. A rebellious spirit. An unresolved hatred towards humans, accompanied with his smoldering red scales. He was dangerous. And that- was perfect.

“Great, another thing that they chose me for,” Ajax growled under his breath. He continued to glare at the dragon, his anger radiating off of his scales.
Gen cocked his head, slowly turning his gaze to Alicanto. "I understand what must be done."
Alicanto rolled his deep blue eyes.
"So are we gonna stand here all day chatting, or can we move out? 'Cause if you two would rather socialize, I can take care of this mission alone."
He didn't wait for a response, only turned sharply and launched himself into the air, sending dust and sand swirling into the air where he had been standing. Angling his wings, Alicanto turned in the direction of the city's Northeastern highway, running the pictures and descriptions from the clipboard the professor had given him through his mind.
Two men. One held a much lower position in the Den's hierarchy; A low-class nobody. He wasn't worth much to bring in. Collateral.
But the other was a name most everyone in the Den knew, including Alicanto. The Cloudwing had seen his Solarwing fight before, and he was pretty sure every single being in the Den had heard of the Lunarwing auction earlier that week, as well as the deadly fights that the Solarwing had fought.
A dark smile spread across Alicanto's face at the thought of what this mission could mean for him. Soon, everyone would hear about the hunt, and Alicanto would be right in the middle of it all. He glared out toward the stretch of black cement beneath him, running his plan again through his mind.
Maybe this time, the hunters would finally respect him. The Ultimate Mercenary. The greatest assassin in the Den. The dragon who brought down the rebellion.
And with it, one of the most well-known dragon fighters in the Den.
August Tobias.

Gen opened his wings, flapping furiously as he caught up with Alicanto. Some distant emotion made his stomach flip, and with a sudden, sharp twist, the dragon glanced down, shifting to match his surroundings as bile coated his tounge.
Gosh, he was high u-
The sick feeling vanished abruptly, and Gen leveled out, soaring beside Alicanto, his wings silent as they caught the wind.

Ajax let out a loud, grumbling sigh as he lifted up into the air. His four clear wings flapped several times. After a small debate on if he should come with Alicanto, Ajax decided that he would follow. He soared next to Alicanto, a scowl on his face. He steered carefully so he wouldn’t bump into him.
