Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

His wings tilting to the perfect angle, Ajax sped up.
The sore muscles in his wings ached, his blistering mouth burned, and his throat had the texture of sandpaper.
He needed water, fast.

(Okay! You can be the one to RP the part where they get there then. I’m not very good at describing landscape type things.)
It was dark when they reached the mountains. The SkyWing was exhausted, but Vel urged him on, her mental state incredibly determined.
There was no water at first, which was expected, but quite disheartening. They had already flown half the night, it was early morning now, and who knew when they might reach a river. It was next to impossible to see in the dark, cool night, so Vel flew into the ravines, passing the CloudWing off the Ajax. It took some thirty minutes, and they found a tiny, small trickle of water rolling down the cavern wall. It was rusted and orange. Another ten, and they found a river.

Vel snapped up a quick mouthful of water, then turned quickly to Ajax, her body shaking as she took Alicanto into her arms.
The SkyWing practically dove for water, and Vel stole a few more vigorous gulps before laying the CloudWing's body in the stream, propping his head above water with a trembling talon. She kept him in place with her back legs, using her talons to splash water against his neck and checks, eventually propping his limp head against her side, cupping water down his throat, though couldn't swallow.
"Comon, Ali-canto.." It felt strange to say his name. Vel splashed more water against his face. "Hey. CloudWing." She leaned down beside his ear, nuding him gently. "Ali, you gotta wake up, man. I got you here." She took a sharp, shaking breath. "You gotta help me out, man." Her arms shook so badly. "Comon, CloudWing, come on." With an impulsive air, Vel submerged the dragon's head completely, then yanked him up, hoping for a reaction.

"So, what," Tobias started, his brow creasing with concern as he leaned forward slightly, "you plan to go back for her- the girl? Back to The Den?"
"Not exactly," Crest corrected, "I saw her escaping on one of the two wheeled vehicles that the humans use. I assumed she got out...I hope she did. Now it's a matter of finding where she is." Determination filled is eyes. "And, I will find her."

Tobias and Sol shared a look.
Sol cleared his throat. "Where will you start? The continents huge, bro."
"I admire your dedication." Tobias gave a quick nod. "I.. can relate."

Alicanto choked as something cold and thick pressed into his throat and nostrils, instinct doing most of the work as he wretched, forcing the liquid out of his nose and mouth. The noise was slurred together, as though it was rushing down from his ears the same way the water was, soaking his thick feathers, trickling and echoing. His mind was tugging weakly at the reality, or half reality, whichever it was. He couldn't find the strength or the will to try and react.
The choking feeling returned, stronger, pressing into his eardrums and he could hear the magnified sound of movement in the substance. It swirled into his snout, some of it breaking past his lips and swirling between his teeth, trying to plunge down his throat and into his lungs.
The feeling passed, his ears popping as the water exited and he choked again, giving a small, wrenching cough to force the water out again, half failing. The water flowed both ways through his nose, some of it spilling out, the rest rushing into the back of his head, once again trying to force its way down his throat.
Panic once again jumpstarted his instinct and he coughed a little harder this time, gasping once, and his eyes flickered open briefly, unfocused and faint. He coughed again, and then his lungs convulsed, trying to force the few drops of liquid that had successfully crept into them back out. Pain sprung into his chest, specifically on the left side, as a racking fit of coughing tore through his body, his limbs flailing slightly in the water.

(Lol, I think I was trying to tag you and just automatically did Kiwi XD)

Austin ran to the lot he left the others and threw open the door. "We need to leave now," he stated to the two dragons inside. Wait, two dragons? He looked around the lot but Alyssia was nowhere in sight. Oh no... He looked back at the other two dragons, "Follow me. We need to get out of the maze." He turned, leaving it up to the dragons to decide to follow or not. He looked back down the hall they'd come and watched as several groups of soliers ran into the open lot that seemed to be the source of most of the fighting from the rebellion.
"You, get more troops and some medics!" one of the leaders ordered to his soldier. Several of the young soldiers then bolted back down the hall and down other corridors. Seeing them all in the other room, he decided to try sneaking back down the hallway. He motioned for the dragons to follow and he held his breath as they made their way down the corridor and back towards the entrance to The Maze.
His instincts began to take over, so his mind went back to Alyssia. Where on earth could she have gone! Why did she go! She has no clue what goes on in this place! She's gonna get herself killed.
"Hey! What are you doing down here!?" a voice boomed from behind them. Austin spun towards them and tried his best to keep his cool.
"Yes?" he said, attempting to not let his voice crack. Taking a deep breath, he put on his lying face and readied himself for what was next.
The burly guard walked up to him, warily eyeing the dragons as he passed them. Austin specifically eyed Whitestar and shook his head, his eyes practically pleading with the dragon not to do anything.
"What are you doing down here? You're a noble, you're supposed to be at the party tonight."
Austin felt a little relief that his disguise was still working. He put on his best worried face and looked deep into the guard's eyes. "Yes, we were on our way here when my fiancé, Jasmine went down this hall because she heard screaming and things. I tried to go after her, but we couldn't get passed the fighting and the carnage of whatever happened down here so I waited with my dragons in one of the empty lots and prayed that my sweet Jasmine was also hiding."
The man raised an eyebrow and looked the dragons up and down. "You have some rare dragons." He walked closer to Whitestar and Austin willed himself to stay where he was. "You look interesting. Rare for the Den. What are you?"
(Is the guard speaking English or Dragon @Yukiko )

Vel grimaced, lifting the CloudWing from the water, pinning his head to her chest with a talon as she wrestled his weak body.
"You're okay, CloudWing."
She took a tottering step towards the shore.
"Oh, calm, calm down. I can't carry you like- this."
She pinned his wings down, breathing heavily.
"Hey. HEY. ALICANTO. You gotta cal-"
Vel slipped on the algae coated rocks below, twisting around to take the brunt of the collision, then struggling back to her feet, yanking the CloudWing behind her as he coughed up more water.
She dragged him to the riverbed, collapsing in the muddy rocks beside the dragon, trying to regain control of her body. She couldn't catch a breath. Everything was shaking.
Vel groaned lightly, watching the CloudWing with a concerned expression.
"Ali-Alicanto. Are you.. are you..." She hesitated, dropping her head as a sudden lightheaded feeling washed over her. She exhaled a heavy breath, feeling rather sick with exhaustion.
"CloudWing?" She muttered. "Are you conscious?"

Panic was still coursing through his veins as Alicanto tried to yank his head out of the water again, coughing as more of it reached for his lungs. He could feel talons pulling at his soaked wings, and he felt the surge of adrenaline wash through his body, his mind yanking more fiercely toward consciousness again, only managing to summon a weak kick with his back legs.
The water clung to his feathers, trying to hold on to him as gravel scraped against his legs and underbelly, the mud clumping between his claws as he failed to scrabble for footing.
The talons released him and he fell painfully against the rocks with one last gasp, his head angled straight out in front of him, his chin resting on the hard ground. His tail was still in the water, the thick feathers catching the current and drifting slightly like dead leaves in its hold.
"Ali-" His mind jerked at the familiar name.
"Alicanto."
He could actually hear it this time. He tried to open his eyes, water streaming from his eyelids.
"Cloudw... Are you con..."
He barely stirred, trying to force his eyes to open, the noise fading in and out in sync with his vision. He could see a dim, firey orange, light reflecting off the uneven surfaces in front of him.
This isn't the Den.
His brain dragged at the thoughts, and he groaned as his headache began to return, his ears ringing gradually louder and louder. He pressed his eyes shut for a moment before forcing them to open again, hardly managing the seemingly effortless task.

"Hey, hey," Vel whispered, leaning forward to get in his line of vision. "You awake? Good job. Good job." She glanced at the river, muscles aching, aching, aching. She looked back to the CloudWing. "Alicanto?"

The Cloudwing clenched his teeth, pressing his eyes shut again as the pain in his head continued to increase, the world spinning as a sudden dizziness swept into his brain.
"Vel," The word stung his throat, the pain and the use making him cough again and he gasped in both pain and desperation for air.
"Vel where..." He let out a shuddery breath, his mind swinging back toward darkness again as his little bit of energy flickered, the words dying on his tongue. The little he had managed to say was slurred and barely counted as more than a whisper, his head feeling heavy at the same time light, and he turned it away, laying it sideways on the stones with another pained groan.
