Vel paused a minute before trickling more water into his mouth, then waited again, moving slowly.
Minutes later she dragged him back, further up the riverbed. She let her legs collapse, promising herself she would wake up soon as she pulled Alicanto to her side, feeling both horrified and restless when she caught a glance of the wound still marring his neck. Blood glistened in the moonlight.
Why was it- how was it bleeding again...
Groggily, her last bit of forced strength nearly spent, Vel pushed a talon against the wound, feeling a weak shudder of protest run through the CloudWing...
Now she could only hope Ajax would be of some help. She was so scared she would sleep too long. She really didn't want to sleep. But her body needed it. It needed food too, especially the... CloudWing...
Vel covered the CloudWing with a gray wing.
She wanted to feel him if he woke.
Then she closed her eyes, already feeling her mind drift as she let her body relax against the mud and rocks.

Ajax wanted so badly to close his eyes and fall into a deep sleep. But, it was obvious that he was meant to keep watch and make sure nobody stops breathing.Alicanto tried to pull away as the pain in his neck increased again, his body reacting uncoordinated to the disturbance and he let out a choked gasp from the pain. Small shudders passed up and down his aching body as the water soaked the warmth from his muscles, creeping beneath his feathers and clinging to his skin. He barely had the strength to shiver every now and then.
He could feel a faint resonating of warmth on his side and over his back, mostly from the space next to him, the little amount of presence against his sopping feathers. His mind began falling back into the thoughtless darkness, the feeling of the rocks beneath him and his soaked feathers fading to a subconscious background as he feel back into the blackness.

(where do we go now?)
So far, both Vel and Alicanto looked fine enough to be left alone.
Sitting down, Ajax kept his head high and alert, as well as his ears perked up. He fought himself so hard about “letting his eyes rest”.
