Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Shard stretched her neck forward, trying to get her gaze closer without being invasive. His eyes were an enticingly deep shade of gold, a sharp contrast that complemented well with his brilliant ruby scales. Shard could feel the warmth swirling off his scales even more so than she had with Bloodmoons. It was a wonderful sensation to feel on her scales at the moment, but uncomfortable to be in for so long. Still, she was curious.
The dragonet took a careful pace forward and reached out a talon slowly toward Sol's wing, curiosity overtaking her caution.
“Whyyy..?”
Shard flinched back nervously as the Skywing behind her spoke and she glanced around her at the older dragons, yanking her talon away from Sol.
"Can I feel your scales?" she whispered, trying not to tremble as she stared up at the sun dragon.

Sol's brow creased for a quick moment, then he gave a nod, glancing back at the SkyWing.
"Why?" Sol started, giving Cas a critical expression. "Because I wanted to."
Kal snorted, miming a pair of spectacles, he pushed his face up to Cas. "QuItE SimPlE, rEaLlY- bea-cuz ay wonted tuh."

Shard shifted closer to the Solarwing, feeling nervous as one of the Rainwings also turned his attention to the conversation.
She reached out her talons and rested them on one of Sol's wing blades, staring up at the red dragon for a moment before catching herself and moving her gaze down to her own talons. The scales beneath her's radiated with heat, possibly feeling more intense on her own frigid talons than on any other dragon. There was a small scar just above where she had rested her palm and she could see many more all over Sol's body, some of them terrifyingly large or jagged.
Shard looked up at Sol again.
"Why do you have so many scars?"

Sol straightened.
He cocked his head, at a loss for words. What could he say that wouldn't offend? The dragons knew the truth, the dragonet might believe a lie. Perhaps The Den bore horrid memories for the dragonet, how could it not? Would the others expose a lie? He couldn't trust them.
But since when did he care whether he offended someone or not.
"The arena, Shard." Sol allowed a daring grin. 'They all happened from the arena."

"What's the arena?"
The dragonet pulled her talons back and sat down, staring up with wide eyes at the firey dragon. Her tail twitched expectantly, her nervousness simmering down a little.

Whitestar picked up his pace when he saw the tears streaking the girl's cheeks, worry rippling beneath his scales.
"Got lucky I suppose," he murmured after a pause to make out her words through the high pitch and the tears.
He stopped beside her, sitting down and ducking his head to her level, trying to meet her gaze.
"It's because of Austin isn't it?" His words were barely a whisper and he glanced cautiously up and down the halls, his ears pricked for the sounds of any patrols.

@Yukiko
Alyssia laughed a little at the comment. A slight smile graced her face but then her face went back to the way it was. She felt puny with a giant dragon sitting beside her. She could feel the cold scales sucking the warmth from the air. He ducked his head and she looked into his icy eyes. They looked so caring and worried. This is how I know dragons.
She smiled a little at him and continued to wipe away tears as he whispered, "It's because of Austin isn't it?"
She didn't know what to say. She didn't want to admit that she wasn't strong enough to get through this. That she didn't have a plan to get them out. The mention of his name again sent her back to her previous emotions, though mostly back to anger. She gritted her teeth and she glared at the wall through tears building up again in her eyes. "You mean that slimeball?" she spat. She looked at the icewing, "Yes, he may have something to do with it," she said through gritted teeth.

Crest watched as all the dragons seemed to be conversing. He felt content to wait. Several other dragons joined into the conversation including a rainwing and a skywing. They all seemed to be well versed in the Den and he could see that their bodies showed it too. They were all covered in scars and memories of the past fights they'd been in. He wondered how on earth they'd all managed to stay sane through it all. He was there for only a few days and had almost gone insane. These dragons are so strong. What am I compared to them?
Then, he looked at the human. The way he looked at the dragonette. There was somethng different about him. He seemed so gentle. So caring for the dragons. Just as humans and dragons should be.
The bluntness of Sol in describing where his scars were from shocked Crest slightly. He's not even trying to sugarcoat it for young ears is he.
Crest was afraid that the solarwing was going to start describing the arena and what happened inside when Shard asked what it was so he added his two cents. "Shard, the arena is a bad place where dragons get hurt. But, thanks to people like August," he said nodding towards the human and changing the subject, "we don't have to go through that anymore." He couldn't bare to see the young dragonette afraid. She's so close to her age when it happened....

Tobias scoffed gently, arching his brow and shaking his head as he repositioned himself. "I played a part. A very small part." He glanced up at Crest. "This was definitely a group effort, I'm just blessed to have gotten dragged into it."
Sol rolled his eyes, wishing Tobias wouldn't underline his supposed insignificance. It made them both look bad.
"Where are you from, Shard?" Sol questioned, with a tone of haste. "Are you from The Den? The Scorpion Den? Do you know what I'm even talking about?"
"Bro." Kass commented.
Sol shot him a quick glare.

The guard looked at him a little skeptically before nodding slowly. "Well, I suggest that you find whoever it is your looking for and get out of the maze. In half an hour, we're doing a full scale sweep of the place to find any stragglers that may have not made it out with the rebellion." He turned to walk away, "And, any dragons of yours or even people that we find alone we will treat as if they were part of the rebellion."
Austin's patience was growing thin but he kept his fake face on. "Of course, that is only fair. I completely understand." But, he didn't understand. He thought of the dead bodies and then saw Alyssia on the ground with them. It's not fair to her. The guilt from before attacked him again, but he dismissed it as childish. He did his job. He was back in the Den.
But was it worth it....
Turning back to the dragons, he saw one missing. "Whitestar!" The idiotic dragon is gonna get himself killed...or worse. Looking desperately down the halls, a thought struck him. He must be looking for Alyssia. Find him, find Alyssia.
Looking back at the other dragons following him, he motioned for them to go with him down one of the halls he chose at random.
If we don't find them quick, we're all dead.

Austin ran down the halls, dragons in tow. He frantically looked back and forth, desperate to find Whitestar and Alyssia. He pulled the map of the Maze he'd memorized from the back of his mind and tracked where he was. He stopped and closed his eyes, thinking about the map and places to run to. He pictured where Alyssia had started and thought of all the possible areas she'd gone. Well, if she was mad at you... He stopped, the thought sticking out abruptly in his mind. He shook it away and continued, Then, she'd probably run off to be by herself. Though, I can't imagine she went far. She seems fragile, so she probably found somewhere to cry. He continued down the hallways and decided to yell her name. He didn't care much about finding the dragon as much as Alyssia.
"Alyssia!" He yelled, his voice echoing down the halls. "Alyssia, we need to get out of the Maze."

Whitestar lowered a wing behind Alyssia, gently brushing her back with the edges of the fold. He opened his mouth to comfort her, pausing when he couldn't find the words.
A human's voice echoed through the halls and Whitestar recognized Austin's voice calling Alyssia's name. The Icewing let out an irritated snort before turning his gaze back to the small girl beside him.
"Unfortunately, that slimeball happens to be looking for you. We ran into one of the hunters before I came to find you."
He paused a moment longer, tilting his head in consideration.
"Do we have to follow him to search the Den? I'm not sure I can put up with him much longer."
