I have a young hen, about one year old, who started staggering about a few weeks ago. Over that time I have given her vitamins, fed her eggs and bathed her in mite removal solution but she is still stumbling about. In some ways she seems happy enough, she's eating and drinking, and moving about shakily. She isn't laying. Her crop and abdomen feel normal.

She really jerks her head about, can't seem to keep it still. I have her isolated from the rest of the flock, who all seem fine.

Any ideas what's going on? I have a vet appointment tomorrow.

Have you checked inside her ears for mites or infection?
Did she have mites?

Her crop is emptying overnight?

I'd try supportive care with Vitamins. Give 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg, tuna or sunflower seeds to help with the uptake of E.
