Off balance Welsummer - getting picked on now too....

I agree with those who said there's a vitamin deficiency.

Get some of her food and heat up some water. It has to be pretty hot to change the crumbles to the consistency of mashed potatoes. I boil water, add it to their food to get it to break down, then add cool water to cool it off and it becomes like porridge. I mix about 2/3 cup of food for six standard chickens.

While it's hot get a Vitamin D and Vit. E capsule, stick a pin in it and empty the contents into the porridge of crumble and mix it well. Then feed it to all the chickens. I just put it in plastic trays like for plants or on the ground if there's some grass. They have a tendency to eat the wet food better than dry.

I had a chicken with a similar problem and within the week following this treatment, she was straightened out. Here in Colorado, we've been having an unusually cloudy winter and I'm doing this for them once a week now. I gave them electrolytes for awhile and will do it once and awhile but I prefer the ACV for the most part in their water.

Don't feed them the Vit. D and E too often because they're fat soluble and tend to hang around in their systems. Like I said, I do mine once a week, others may do it more often.

Good luck, Mary

P.S. If you do use electrolytes from the feed store, please read the dosage carefully. Some of those packages were meant for horse and cattle waterers and the concentration is very high.

Thank you so much for the replies! I really do appreciate the help, I'm losing sleep over what to do for this sweet girl. I will keep you all posted.
