I am a total Newbie but hope to be joining your ranks soon!

    In the meantime:
I am obsessed with finding out the breed of chicken shown on Hobby Farms calendar for April.
To my totally untrained eye it looks a lot like a Buff Orpington, but has some parti-colored feathering on the back.

If anyone out there has this calendar and can tell me what is pictured I will be eternally grateful.

I don't have the calendar, but a lot of calendars have a list in the fine print or on the back if they don't caption the actual pics.

Whoops, almost forgot- [IMG] from South Carolina!

Almost sounds like you are describing a red sex link... perhaps a Cinnamon Queen?

    Oh, and [IMG] from AZ!

    Thanks all!

ranchhand: good idea - I'll check the back today

Mahroni - thnaks for the hint - maybe Google Images will have a pic I can check against the calendar

ChooksChick - I've got that issue and that's not the hen I'm looking for on the cover. I think that must be one of the Heritage breeds in the article

    Schultz - I don't have a scanner : - (

off to search Google images - if I can find what I want I'll post the link here ; - )
