Sometimes ghosts attach to a person rather than a place...Ghosts sometimes are like a tape loop, they play the same thing over and over...
Sort of like the two teachers at Versailles.
I was more sensitive when I was younger to things like that. I even heard a Bansidhe once. And I'm only part Irish. And it wasn't for anyone in my family either. It was friend's father who died.
The thing that all the experts say is to tell them to go to the light or go to God.
Smudging with sage is also good to take care of some beasties.
An old iron horseshoe over the doors is another, because most of the wee folk can't abide iron...Hematite makes me queasy...
I believe that a lot of the old myths have their basis in fact.
around here we have the skunk monkey just kike bigfoot but smellyer, one of my old freinds brother seen one about 2 years ago it walked aross a dirt road ight infront of him. and they have a campground near him and claim they have seen a dead guy walking around that died 5 yrs ago

Today I was supposed to go to a funeral (my stepfather's aunt, hardly knew her). My mother in law was going to watch my kids.
This morning she calls at around 8am saying that her dad (my husband's grandpa) was having chest pains and she had to take him to the emergency room and couldn't watch my kids. That was fine, I decided I'd just take them with me.
The kids don't have any "funeral" clothes, so I went out to the mall and had a hell of a time finding my daughter anything appropriate. She's 3, and apparently everything is smeared with princesses - not very funeral appropriate. FINALLY I get everything I need (by the way, shopping for my son, who's 4, was no problem and took like 5 minutes). We're getting ready to walk out of the mall to go to the parking lot so we could go home, get dressed and head to the funeral. Then my husband calls.....
"Baby, I think I broke my ankle." OH S&*%$@^%$!!!!!!!! I think to myself. We are uninsured an an emergency visit is very, very expensive. So, we had to skip the funeral to go meet my husband at the hospital. It turns out his grandpa is at the same hospital! His grandpa was fine, just a case of pluracy (?).
It turns out my husband didn't break anything, just tore all the ligaments in his ankle. It looks like a large orange is growing out the side of it. He does construction, so I have no idea how long he'll be out of work. The whole day pretty much sucked. I went out of my way to get clothes for my kids for a funeral we didn't even get to go to and now I've got an insane hospital bill to look forward to. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Getting it off your chest helps alot!! Sorry your day has been so horrible. Two weeks ago was scarry for me. Dh works on a drilling rig about 3 hours away and it is a very dangerous job. He is only home for 7 days a month. I miss him terribly all the time. Anyways he called and said he had been hit in the head with a 10lb piece of metal! He was bent over and the metal pin fell off some machinery and hit him right behind his ear where his hard hat didn't cover his head. I was sooooo upset. I couldn't be there for him. I couldn't take care of him. And the idiot that put the pin up on the machinery couldn't be found. Dh said he didn't black out but that everything went very white and he couldn't see anything for awhile. I think the guy that left the pin on the machine hid for the rest of the week. My hubby is not really very tall but boy is he broad. Maybe that guy will think twice before making that mistake again. I can tell you my dh wrote him up for the mistake (he is the boss) but I would've tore him up if I'd been there. I'm meaner than any roughneck out there! Don't mess with my hubby, kids, or chickies!!
Just kidding. I'm not really that mean. But I do hope your day gets better. And your week since it is MONDAY!!!
Wow eggcentra and Judymae - I hope all is well with you two. We went from ghosty and interesting things to close calls, makes you thankful, doesn't it?
Anyway hope all is well with everyone, and selfish as I am I still want to hear your stories.
Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully tomorrow's better. It is, after all, another day.... and even though today sucked, there's someone out there who's day was a lot worse.
The weirdest thing that happened to me was driving down a deserted highway with my mom. It was daytime, about 100 miles east of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, but it was pretty desolate.
There was not another car on this road we were on.
Well, out of nowhere, this great big HUGE plunk of something like bird poop plopped on the windshield. I mean it was so large it covered the entire windshield, enuff to where I had to stop to clean it off before I could continue. There must have been close to a 1/2 quart of the stuff. It smelled to high heaven as well, and it took a whole gallon of water to even begin to get it off. We stopped immediately, becuz I couldnt see out, I looked in the sky and there was absolutely NOTHING. Not a flock of birds, not a big eagle, no plane (lol)nothing. There was also no birdsong, etc, which you normally hear in the plains all the time. It was just eerie.
I have been fascinated with thunderbird stories ever since, it was the only thing that could have done somethin like that.
It must've just been one of those crappy days all around. I was at an appointment in town today, when I listened to my voicemail after the appointment, it was my sister letting me know my dad was in the hospital with appendicitis and was having emergency surgery. His appendix was so bad it was gangrene, and he was mildy septic after the surgery, with a temp. of 102.1. First time in my 31 years of life my dad has ever been down like this. It sucked.
I get home tonight from being at the hospital all day, no one has given my son his heart meds (he has a serious heart defect), so I flip out about that.
I ask how many eggs were in the coop today, and NO ONE bothered to go let the chickens out, so the poor chickens were in the coop all day with little food and no fresh water.
It's too darn dark for me to go out by myself, we have too many big predators in the woods. Plus we've had a ton of rain, so everything is a mudbog.
I'll have to go out in the early morning and beg my girls' forgiveness. Maybe some Cheerios and Kix will help.
