I got a variety of chicks last year, not sure what they all were. I'm still not sure on all of them!

I have at least 1 that is laying off white eggs. They are way to light to be considered light brown, but they are so not white! What type of chicken lays off white eggs? These are supposed to be "purebred" hens, not mixed breeds.

There are a lot of breeds that lay "tinted" or "cream colored" eggs. They are indeed lighter than your average brown and not white. . . But there's a lot of breeds that lay such.

You'd need to describe their color, leg color, etc.

Like Illia said, there are a lot of breeds that can do that. I have an exchequer leghorn who's eggs are close, but not quite white. It's not very obvious next to my brown and green eggs, but on a pure white piece of paper or next to a store-bought white egg you can tell that they're not quite white. Then I have one speckled sussex hen who lays a range of brown eggs and while most of hers are a pale tan she does occasionally give me an incredibly pale egg, sometimes so pale that I have a hard time distinguishing it from my leghorn's eggs. I have one in my fridge right now in my carton of "white" eggs from my leghorn that I didn't realize was just a shade too dark to be anyone other than the sussex's until a few days later. She also rarely lays a brown egg as dark as my wyandotte's egg (I would say it's a "medium" brown, about the same color as the brown eggs at the store, maybe a shade lighter). All of my birds are "purebred" too, although coming from a hatchery who knows how true to standard their original stock started or how far it has strayed.

I haven't a clue who is laying the off colored eggs, so it's hard to describe what I have. I know I have a Polish, 3 Blue Andalusions, 1 Leghorn and I think a Delaware. Not sure about the others and my camera is broken. I know I don't have a Sussex. All the hens in that pen lay white (or a variation there of) eggs.

The thought-to-be Delaware shouldn't lay white eggs. . . Hers should be light brown.

Sussex, Jersey Giants, Orpingtons, Wyandottes, Faverolles - a few commonly available breeds I can think of who lay light brown eggs.
