Sadly, most of what allows us to have the extras we do is because of the retirement he gets from his late wife. He had to lose A LOT in order to have what he does

But, she told him, in no uncertain terms, to go find a woman to love and use the money to enjoy living with her.

But, he does admin and technical support for Financial Advisors. He's a big geek!

As for the house, we kinda fell into it. It started as a joke (Wouldn't it be cool to live there...) but then he had mega equity in his previous house (he and his wife lived there for 19 years) and he has excellent credit so we got a screaming good interest rate on our loan.

He does have a brother, who is super duper nice and very handy to have around, but he is in an entirely different field, hea mechanic for Ditch-Witch. He's one of the best in the country and he gets to play with all the really cool big toys
