That's what my dad used to ask me...

Well...

I was going to buy an Xbox 360... did not,

I was Going to buy an Lego robot.... Did not,

i am having a mental block....

Been having problems lately with weird nestbox happenings. Eggs are missing........daily.....I leave witha chicken in the box laying and come home to no eggs in there. Or a white egg when it was a brown layer in there that morning.

A couple days I came home and the nestbox was all askew......this is a covered cat litterbox sitting in the front of the garage......sometimes the lid was off, or it was all knocked over.

Today I went over and it was tipped onto the opening...with a chicken leg sticking out. My big Jersey Giant hen was in there dead. I wonder if it got tipped on her and she suffocated or died of heat stroke inside. Her head was intact.....I didn't look closely otherwise, but there was no obvious blood or gore.

She was one of my first chickens. She was 2 and a half years old and one of my original chickens that will live their lives out here.

Here she is on the left day before yesterday, big black Jersey Giant. She was 9lbs.

That's what I am wondering. but how the heck did it kill that huge hen? Unless its a poisonous snake (yikes). The way I found her, I wonder if she just got stuck in the litterbox when it tipped and wedged and couldnt get out. I took a picture that is slightly gruesome......all you see if the litterbox and a chicken butt/leg.....

I am totally phobic about dead animals, so I find this picture graphic....you guys may not. I did not put it as an image....so you are forewarned....click the link and you might see a graphic picture.

This was after I tipped the box back up. It was tipped back on the opening. Making me think maybe the chicken just tipped it and got stuck? But so strange. Been using these for years with no problem....and that still doesnt explain the missing eggs.....

Totally missing eggs with no mess is a snake. Our JGs don't fit very well in a cat box, so my guess is she got startled, torqued the top, then was stuck. Plus, ours aren't fond of heat, so that may be part.
