I never found the soap to be very effective. HOWEVER, baking soda is effective.

Not an alien. Freud would have other ideas.

So you're cooking silkie eggs? Or show/silkie eggs?

Leave the BIN alone. Some are too close to turken and red is a big no-no. Also, you want to make sure you have nice poufy heads on your showgirls. I know of one BIN that is fail on both counts.

Of the chicks I have (showgirl) I have at least one that I know I won't be keeping because it's a dark partridge and I have too many dark partridge chicks. Knowing my luck I'll end up with all 3 dark partridge being cockerels

I also have a couple of silkie chicks that I'm tempted to keep but know I don't have the space for.
Say the word and I'll hold on to them and let you see them on the 21st. If you don't want them then I'll sell them that weekend.

Most people stick with a sillkie/showgirl flock mix to make sure to keep the fluffy on their birds...

As the famous psychologist Freud would say "she has an picky fixation" at least with chickens anyway LOL.

Cuckoo is just the term for barred coloring pretty much, right? Do Silkies even come in a cuckoo pattern?

Yup, they sure do. It's just more subtle than in other breeds.

We accidently ended up with a cucko silkie roo from MPC waaaaayyyy back when I was a n00b on the forum. He was a butthead and went to live on a farm where he was later eaten by a pack of wild dogs.

Darn the BYC change wordy thing! I didnt think that was a bad word?!

The eggs I have are silkies. As far as I am aware, none of the 3 sets I am due are showgirls. I had gotten eggs for LH. But We have talked and she isn't looking for a ton of them so we were possibly going to split some....all depending on what hatches, of course.

This makes me laugh. EVERYONE needs a bantam breed!

I am partial to d'Uccles, and have the silkie/showgirl flock as a hobby bird....

I thought sg's were ugly too. And then I hatched one. And she was adorable.
Now she's getting older and is pissy and mean, and a better bator than a broody. I will sell her for BIG BUCKS in September when the idjits hit the fairgrounds....
