Oh I wish I knew. I buried him. I would try to get you a couple but right know they have some funky little white mite also. It makes me feel dirty. I swear I keep their coop clean.

You can't blame yourself for the mites.

I believe you. Better luck next time Emmy!
Okay, that didn't come out right.

AhHEM. Clears throat. May all your roosters live long and prosper. But if anyone needs to process one, Emmy is looking for pretty rooster feathers for her hair pretty project.

Dacs is gonna kill me for talking chickens on this thread LOL. But how could I have prevented them? I use DE and seven dust, I change the bedding regularly (though this time I didnt scrub the roosts I just scraped them clean). Its just getting chilly here and its wet and rainy (figures we'd get rain when I need sunny weather LOL). I'm taking up Nellas suggestion..
Bath them in flea and tick shampoo from TSC, once they are all dry and fluffy use ivome pour on for cattle (1/2 cc on the back of the neck) Clean coop and sanitize with Permethrin (sp). The a really good tall southren comfort for me!

We've had mite twice and both time's it makes me feel like a bad owner.... but it clears up quickly when I douse the nest boxes, the perimeter of the coop, and add it to their dust-bathing area. Catching and dousing 40 free rangers individually would never work around here, too many trees for them to escape into.

I have to go guys, I've not got the car loaded yet. Have a great week! I may or may not check in depending upon wether my sister can find her guest internet access key.

Have fun McFly!
