oh my goodness, did I say this morning feeding all those students was kind of easy
what was I thinking!!

I fed 535 today, and kinders were slow so I was slightly behind, and then first grade was slow and 2nd grade came in and I still had 1st graders, and the 2nd graders were lined up all the way down the hall, and I had to get more food out, and it was crazy for a bit.
But, I just patiently tell all those kids that I am a little behind, give me a second and I will be ready, and they are really good about it!!

I am pooped.

Nachos are kind of hard cuz it comes in 3 parts. They get cheese, meat and chips.
Well, some kids try to take only chips, or they try to take chips with a sandwich
or they don't take the meat, and I had to keep correcting their choices and thats why I was behind for kinder and first grade.
Then I am suppose to be keeping my eye on the computer cuz its a touch screen and they touch their name after I bring up their class list. they touch their name and then lunch button, its cool.
but if I am not right there, they like to play with it.
and if it pops up they owe money, the next student will start pushing buttons, and well its hectic.
Then they go to garden bar and get the corn, and yes it gets everywhere and I have to clean it up.
for kinder i put corn in little trays for them and lined it up where they get the main course, so they couldn't make a mess, but there is no time to do that for all the grades, so it goes out to garden bar after that.

Thanksgiving dinner, yep, I do that too, all by myself.
Having everything done at the same time is the hard part, but I've figured it out now after all these years.
Oh yea, I need a recipe for sweet potato pie, I think, now I forgot what my sister wanted, tee hee

thats as far as I can get right now, middle son is sick and I said I would bring more soup.

Belle, how young do you start teaching your youngsters gun safety? Curious is all.

We start talking about guns and gun safety as soon as they can possibly grasp the concept. The older ones haven't shown much interest in shooting, but at 9 and 11, I think they're old enough to learn how to handle a gun and do target practice with supervision, if they wanted. We keep the rifles locked up 24/7, but they've watched DH clean them. Neither of them seem much interested, though.

that's sort of how I handled it. Since I am shooting daily around 5 or 6ish is when kev first took interest. Other than target practice he is uninterested in guns and has learned there are some that just plain hurt to shoot. He won't mess with my shotguns or handguns, as he's learned that they hurt his frame. I was curious though, cuz he's worked his way to his own .22, pellet gun and co2 pistol at 11 years old. by 12 I am hoping to give him a 20 gauge for his birthday.

Just think about late night feedings, teething, dirty diapers, the cost of diapers, the all nighters, baby puke, pain of labor, getting fat and worst yet the dreaded cost of additional childcare.

Boo - are you the only worker in your lunchroom? The schools around here have at least 2 workers when there are that many kiddos. Remember when they had lunch tickets that you had to punch

Now everything is computerized. Here it is a code the kids have to punch in on a keypad. The Kindergartners have theirs written on a Popsicle stick. Those first few weeks of school are hard in the lunchroom getting all those young ones through the line!

I think it is a hard job and you have to be very organized to do it.
