The short version - since the long version will get me banned from the internet - they tried their hardest to kill my youngest sister and me, and successfully killed our middle sister. They've hated me more since I got out, then more when I tried to save middle and even more when I drug my youngest sister out of their control. Physical abuse and drugs are their poisons of choice. I gave up on them 15 years ago, and am marginally better for doing that.

Obviously you don't feel anything regarding him being ill. You've done so well getting away and ending that cycle, you just kick that dust off your shoes and never look back girl!

eta: i was in a place like that with my ex, one day i realized that if i didn't leave i'd be dead and my kids would grow up in a drug slum somewhere. called my mom and stepdad who drove from MN to AZ in one day to get us and i have never looked back. my kids don't know about him, and i hope that when i have to tell them they are able to understand that he isnt someone they should have contact with. OR his poor choices will have ended him by then and i won't have to worry.

According to my facebook, I ate totally empty calories and didnt feel guilty about it.

I had a mcchicken and an apple pie. I actually HATE mcdonald's but i was using their wifi to get books on my nook and i was hungry so...

I got out because my best friend always had me over, so I had some idea of what normal life SHOULD be. Often my parents were too high and/or drunk to notice I wasn't home. But her parents were always fine with another kid over.

Also how I met DH. He was home on L&L to help his parents clean out his grandparents house next door to my friend. I had just finished high school and was trying to figure out how to get away, far far away. We just clicked, and got married in NOLA on July 4th and never looked back. I left home with 3 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, 2 dresses and about $75 and that was all I had to start with. Was enough to get started, and that was all I needed.

And sorry for depressing the entire thread.

Sparkles, good for getting out and getting the kids out. I'm amazed at what kids can just forget and live without knowing/remembering and are happy about that.
