Be jealous. I am sitting on my couch right now. Had the NPIP testing done this morning. Going to leave in a few minutes to return to work for a half day.

The cochins were annoyed by the process.

"cochins must be italian, we have the same butt"

Clearly the meds are still working.

I love our banty Cochins and their big floofy butts. Too bad we've had NO luck with LF Cochins.

I have 3 LF cochins. 2 barred hens and 1 blue rooster. That's it. Growing up lots of young LF cochin mix youngsters though.

I want bantam Cochins sooooooooo bad!!!!!!! But, I'm trying to resist their cuteness.

I stood in my barn yesterday and hatched a plan to fence in 2 currently unused spaces, each ~8x10' and completely covered, so if I built a small coop in each of those spaces, I'd have 2 more little banty coops.

The banty Cochins are mostly for the cute factor. They look like little marshmellows running around the yard. Plus they are crazy broodies, so they earn their keep. Tho' ahem, 5 JG chicks under a tiny Cochin is hilarious, she can't come close to covering them within a few weeks.

That picture is definitely conclusive proof that my two bantams are cochins. And I do believe they are both cockerels. The black and white one is a pretty sweet little guy so far, the brown and gold one a bit more reserved. We shall see.

sparkles, welcome to my nightmare. I have weird, sometimes scary, often inappropriate dreams EVERY night. It's a wonder I ever feel rested. Pretty sure it's the writer in me trying to escape because I never make time for her to have her say.

Found brother's bio parents.

This is a year of adventure for us.

I'm going to teach the "caretakers" how to care for chicks and ducklings tonight, do launrdy, pack, and load the car after work tonight, because I work tomorrow and Dh is picking me up on the way out of town... I feel stupid right now.

That's always funny! I love when they get scared and try to tuck under their mama but they're every bit as big as she is. I have a Serama setting on some standard eggs. Should be fun when they hatch.
