My brother-in-law took his kids down to see the chickens last time they were here and when they came back he told me I had a chicken loose.

Me: "Is it the Blue one? She's been escaping lately."
Him: "Well, it was gray. And big."
Me: "Oh, that must be her."

You're right, blue and lavender chickens are actually gray.

Sweet potatos are very popular down here. Most nice restaurants offer baked sweet potatos and/or sweet potato fries on the menu. You should move down here.

Wow, somebody actually had the nerve to say it. You go Belle!

Yes, I will be moving to Virginia shortly. Are any of your bright and over achieving children close to finishing their Wharton School of Business doctorates yet? I'm a hankerin' a nice ride on a shiny gaited horse.

One of the places Don and I stopped for lunch had really good sweet potato fries, and lemon meringue pie

Isn't it amazing that Nella hasn't been had her daylights knocked out more often?

Well, sad part, it's true, so I'm not hitting people for pointing out reality.

But not a very big house. More like those Tumbleweed Tiny Houses. But a house none the less.

I LURVE Tumbleweed Tiny Houses! I've drooled over them for years. That's what I want my next house to be. Very little cleaning, indeed.

I need some grey chickens to complement the colors I already have. Anyone want to send me some grey chicks? DH would keel over...I'll take a picture of the look on his face...

I've never heard of Caliche. Is it a western thing?

Caliche is dirt that is hard as concrete. Alot of desert people have caliche.

Bedrock is a good name for it. We always have to rent an auger to did holes in our yard.

Wow. I guess I have the opposite problem - pure sand. But sand does make a good chicken run...

The odd thing is not everyone here has it. One part of our yard is fairly sandy. But of course the areas that we need to use are caliche.
