You could still come and look at the others and get a baseline for how 'type-y' she is, though.

I wouldn't try to force feed the hen that's going downhill. IMO that just stresses them out, and its not something you can maintain long-term. They either have a will to live or they don't (does that sound cruel?). Bear in mind that I tried that with my weak buff and lost her anyway. And it was a lot of extra work.
