Roughish chicken day for me. Rocky, died last night (after a long battle), I moved 2 little roos to the grow out pen and THOUGHT I had secured it. Nope. The kids found one dead---dog slobbered. I found the other one shocky under the trailer. Then, as I was medivacing the survivor chick, I see one of the meaties has up and croaked. I guess shane won't be putting off processing them now.
4 birds, one day. Somehow I doubt they are the last. I am just hoping I can get the meaties done before they start mass-heart attacking.
Not my horse. My barn has completely failed at taking care of the horses. They have lost interest and are NOT taking care of the horses! I am moving Foxy to a new place this weekend. Found it yesterday, visited it today, have vet coming for coggins/shots on Thursday and am hoping to get my neighbor to move Foxy on Saturday.
However........Foxy isn't in the worst condition. Just on the thin side but not bad. She looked better last week when I was there, and definitely had lost weight yesterday. The other horses? NOT GOOD. The thinnest is this sweet little gray mare. She has been Foxy's BFF for a while. She is VERY SKINNY. Like. Getting sunken in and bony.
Not sure what kind of horse she is. She is a mare. My horse is 15.1ish and QH build.
That picture was taken a year or two ago......that horse is now minus a couple hundred pounds.
I have plenty of hay and not long until plenty of pasture, too; I'd take her at least long enough to find her another (good) home if she weren't so dang far away. Poor baby.
