Well, I donated 4 duck eggs to the 2nd graders and only one is left. She had 17 shipped and only 5 are left.

I don't know what they are doing over there...teacher says they smell stinky and takes them out...they have a candler so I'm hoping she's right...that they are doa.

I was thinking about my duck eggs. I thought, wow, 3 of them went bad? But then, the ducks some of them are youngish girls...they were born last spring...and maybe the drakes weren't fertilizing all the females? I know they are for the most part...I see them. I know if there was one viable egg that it would mostly have to be Ali and Quackers...they hatched thier eggs last year and got 3 out of 3.

Belle and Buff, you have stuff sprouting already?
The weather has not been freezing?

Or are they indoor sprouts, or covered or something?

I gave a first time duck egg hatcher a dozen eggs. For her new incubator. One was a triple yolker.....one quit. 10 hatched.

I sold the ducks and the new buyer put 35 eggs in incubator. 34 are developing.

I guess howard and his 3 ladies are good at what "they do".

Well, they're garlic plants. Buffy gave me the cloves last Oct and they overwintered in the ground. I was so happy to see them sprouting!

Our last frost date is officially tomorrow, but I've been planting all week because it's been unseasonably warm (low to mid 80s):
carrots
radishes
potatoes
3 kinds of tomatoes
4 kinds of peppers
spinich
lettuce
yellow squash
zucchini
potatoes
beans
corn

The strawberry, black raspberry and blueberry plants just came in the mail yesterday. I need to finish their beds, but the bad weather has kept me in.

Okay, we have Belle posting her life-affirming plant-oriented love of all things.

Then we have Laree posting... well. Hmm....... Garlic sprouts or death? Which is better?

Belle, our weather's only been in the low 50's lately, but I planted lettuce and arugula and snow peas. Wish me luck. Your weather sounds so much nicer.
BTW, how do you do all that when you have four chirplings?

Ah gotta love a day in the life of Laree

SPEAKING of "murderdeathkill" we got a skunk last night after it ate a nest of eggs, ran between my legs, and ran headlong into DH's boots.

Loss of eggs: $2

Shotgun Shells: $1.50

Man with loaded gun quivering in terror: Priceless.
