I just spent the last hour and a half hosing down the porch rugs.
That is: we can't afford to put pavers under the porch yet, so I have been collecting/using old carpets and rugs out there to keep the dust down. We dont really have grass most of the year, and none at all under the porch. So with the kids and dogs and me running in and out, the dirt in the house gets outta hand.
But the chickens love the carpeting, and love to poop on it. Yesterday was a total poofest. Shane said I needed to wash the carpets today, which is a PITA. Some of the carpets are so large, I have a hard time picking them up. The big ones are like 10 by 20, and COVERED in fine dust--I end up hacking for days. THen I have to haul them across the yard, lift them over the drive gate, and stand there with a hose forever. A dog chewed off the end of the hose, so i cant attach the power sprayer. I gotta use my thumb to get a good water velocity, and now it is all owies.
Cry for me.
