Anyone ever painted over wallpaper? I'm seriously considering it.

I hate wallpaper. Despise it. This house has wallpaper in every single room.

That wasn't a dealbreaker when we bought it. I've taken down wallpaper before and I figured I could do it again. What I didn't realize when we bought the house was that the original owners adhered it to bare drywall. Then the people we bought the house from must not have liked the old paper, so just put another layer of paper up.

I've taken most of it down (and patched a lot of drywall) but these last 2 rooms are going to be a bear and I'm considering just painting over it, but I want to do it in a way that looks good.

they make a base coat that covers paper. Then you paint over that. Or you could get some blank textured paper and put it up then paint.

So it's a special primer made for covering wallpaper? I can do that.

My understanding, yes.

We used kilz oil base primer and then painted over that. Worked great.
