I asked for fuzzy Crocs for Christmas to wear as house slippers. They're warm, they're comfortable, they're waterproof and people don't look at me funny when I accidently leave the house in my slippers.

SNOPES says this is false. If you go to that link, you can register any number cia the interwebz?

Not sure who you just called and registered with......

I called the number and registered my cell phone number. Why take chances? I hate telemarketing calls. Although, I usually have good luck just asking the telemarketers to remove my number from their lists, but I hate those automated calls - like political calls - ugh! If you keep annoying me, I'm guaranteed not to vote for you!

True and False, this is not a new situation. Cell phones went public years ago. The registry is true though, and I should have added my comments onto the original post before hitting submit but my phone was ringing ...
Some of us may not have seen this 5 years ago when it first came out, and some may have registered 5 years ago and are now expired from the list. I actually just started getting sales calls again a couple weeks ago and thought I needed to find this number and re-register so the sales calls would stop. Then, of course, I forgot all about it, until now, so I just re-registered my number.

My kids did not have cells 5 years ago but do now, their numbers are not registered. I have forwarded this info to them so they can call and register or go online and do it. You can call from ANY number to register your cell phone but otherwise this info, although old, is valid.

I appreciated getting this email at work today as it reminded me to take care of some simpler “house-keeping” and thought I would share the joy with you all.

It wasn't so muc ha "Release" as it was the lifting of the regulations that prohibited solicitation calls to cell numbers. At one time all cell phone numbers were unpublished. they became published several years ago, which is why you can buy cell phone numbers from a wide variety of vendors who deal in directories. If you Google a person's cell phone number you will get about 100 hits, all willing to sell you the info about who that number belongs to. I haven't looked at a POL Directory in years, but I bet they now have a listing for cell phone numbers. Every where I've ever worked that did sales has a copy. It's a huge book, you can research who lives at a certain address, their ages, basic income info, it's kinda creepy really, I think they get it all from census data, don't really know, but there you have it.

When I worked in Real Estate, I had 10 calls a week wanting to sell me a list of cell phone customers in my area that I could use for cold calling. I never did believe in cold calling so I declined, but the info is available.

Today I was chastized for "throwing a coworker under the bus".

I responded that I did not throw them under the bus, I just told the bus where they lived. THEY are the ones that jumped in front of it. They should have stayed on the porch.

It was just one of those days. I had a huge email blowout with one of our plant managers.....they eventually came into it and said "who told you that!!?!?!?! I need to talk to them!".

Only problem with that? The person saying that had been the person who told me the "bad info". Via email. no no, via TWO Emails.

therefore, I responded with: "YOU were the one who told me this, via email.........."

I was making enemies left and right. Everyone was messing up and I was calling them on the table about it. Then they complained to my boss about my throwing them under the bus in front of "their bosses". That's nice. I'm not stupid, and went above my boss to HER boss before they had a chance to complain. Neener. Neener.

Good job!!!! I am lucky we are small for administration of transit, and we are over the operations. So all of us are bosses of them. I LOVE it. The entire 7 of us get to boss all 154 of them around. We are good bosses though. We never have to fire anyone, we just tell them who to get rid of.
