not a fruit?

Nope. I want veggies. It's become a craving the last few months. I can't explain it.

I wear crocks, the smooth soles are easy to get the poo off the bottom of before I go back in the house.

Even in the dead of winter?

most of the time, yes. Although, if it's slushy the holes in the crocks are a bit of an annoyance. I usually pull on some form of rubber boot if the standing soggy-ness is more than an inch deep.

But crocks are suitable for when it's too cold to be wet

Too much snow between the house, the horses and the chickens in the winter for me to wear crocs. I have a big pair of Sorels that see a lot of use once the snow is more than ankle deep.

That's actually one of the things i'm looking at most with house shopping, how close the barn and outbuildings are to the house, and how efficiently it's laid out (less steps the better when it's a wheelchair in snow).

or one might call them rain galloshes?

I have a pair of mud boots. They are a little small but not uncomfortable (they were on sale) I dried wearing them without socks bad move in this heat and humidity. Took me about fifteen minutes to get them off.

For me it's a couple hundred feet, but Tom snow blows the path for me (I do the whole driveway but not the path to my barn...

DH told me he'll pour sidewalks all over the place if I ever end up in a wheelchair, so I can still get out to the horses. Thoughtful of him.

I don't suppose you can get chains for wheelchair tires, eh? I worked at a grocery store in high school and our standard prank on the new stockboys was to send them looking for the snow chains for the carts....mean, but oh so funny.
