Good morning.
Yep, I got to feed a pony again this morning!
And I brushed him and talked to him
And checked out all his little bite marks from fighting with the other ponies.
Oh, that is normal stuff, kind of like chicken pecking order.
Oh my, that was such a stressful ordeal I went through.
I didn't want to sell pony to begin with, I got desperate for money, worried how was I going to feed him, and his feet needed trimming.
But I cried, and DH missed him and didn't want me to sell him, and my dad missed him, and didn't like that he was gone.
And that hurt my heart more.
And I believe they didn't want to pay me for pony. So, magically he has a hip problem and limps, but oh, only a trained eye can see that. And they love him and are very attached, and he'll be lonely at my house, and although he wanted to check him out first to make sure all was ok, now he doesn't mind he is lame, he can have a forever home, animals live out their life there, and gets lots of love and attention. Oh how the guilt was poured on me.
But no, if something is wrong with my pony, I need to know and have my farrier check him out.
Not just believe some one who I never saw or even know their name and so yes, I should not take payment for my pony.
Nope, ain't falling for that one!
By the way, I will have him checked, but is not an emergency, and I'll just continue to work with him on picking up his hind feet, its an awful habit he has, trying to sit on you. He used to do it with both sides, now pretty much only the one side, but if you are patient, and wait till he is ready, and let him relax and lift his foot for you, he won't sit on you.
I think he was handled too roughly in the past with his feet. Being a pony, they are low to the ground, and his feet were probably lifted too high and rough, and so he learned a mean little trick.
I think that farrier just went and picked up his foot without reading Little Man's subtle messages, and got squashed. Therefore, believes it is a hip problem. That pony is one of the smoothest rides I've ever had, very sure footed and never tripped.
Little Man had a lot of quirks about him, makes me believe he was not treated properly in his early years, but i know nothing of his history, I don't even know what breed he is, he is just
Cutest Pinto Pony Ever breed!!
