So we're on the way to work this morning and about 2 miles south of town this black creature runs up to the side of the road. I thought it was a late season angus calf, but I have NEVER seen a calf that black. it was like an absence of light it was so black. Then I thought it was a large dog. But it wasnt moving right. Then I thought "ah, its a fat wolf!" but no, wrong again. Juvenille black bear. Sat on the side of the road till we were 100 ft away THEN decided to run out in front of us. Nerd. SO glad he was ten miles from my house and moving AWAY.

McFly, my friends made a Whizbang plucker, it's amazing! There's videos on Youtube of other peoples. She lends it out, if there are any others in your area who will be processing chickens it'd be worth it to pool resources, although it wasn't THAT expensive to make (if you have good scrounging skills)

and I need to take more pictures of my Icelandic chicks before I leave.
