Time of year is an issue too. Some planes have temperature thresholds for shipped animals that don't take into account the climate the animal lives in normally. We almost got a dog for 2 weeks because my girlfriend had trouble getting her dog on the plane since it would be 30F in the cargo hold. The dog lives outside where it's a balmy -20F. She told them they should probably worry about the dog getting too warm.
I sent a message to the breeder to see which airport she ships out of and I'll plan to fly into that one, just in case she's ready in time
