He finds any fantasy story (LOTR, Harry Potter, Narnia, etc) to be a waste of time because "theres no way it could ever have actually happened" I on the other hand read all 7 Narnia books at age 8 and will never stop loving all things fantastical.

If it wasn't for fantasy I could not deal with reality.

Ah she was just unbearably subservient until Broud knocked the snot out of her. The thing I hated about the series was Auel's constant rehashing of what she had already written. Last book stunk.

Thank you for that, I almost bought the first book in that series yesterday.

It was one of my favs until the author got old. Then Ayla got blonde and never made mistakes. SURE--she invented the needle, and thread, and discoverd how babies were made, and raised a sabertooth tiger, and acted as a liason for 2 races, and flew planes for a living,-------- but man was she boring as crap.

It's funny 'cause it's TRUE!

My favoritest SciFI series of all time--tied with The Gunslinger series.

The first couple of books were the best, I mean The Best. I read them when I was maybe eleven and life was grim and I wanted to crawl in and live there, thread or no thread. I'd have poisoned Lord Fax.

We've already mentioned Kim Harrison, perhaps in the older OW thread. Talk about flawed, flawed characters.

I need to go over to the book case--but shane is drywalling the office, so the books are stacked 3 and 4 deep right now. I doubt there is any semblance of order.

Looked under the hood of the firebird when I got home. One of the belts fell off! My dad was suspicious that the tensioner pulley or whatever its called was going bad....and he was right! So I just need that fixed and the belt put back on.

My dad is coming for a visit early October and can fix it then. Not the worst news ever.......
