I don't even know what I need to know. It's a computer for Joe in his office. Mostly he needs it for web surfing and running a few design programs for ductwork etc. I am wondering if a refurbished Dell with Windows XP would be sufficient.

Costco has a fantabulous laptop way above and beyond what he needs for $350. A desktop would be even cheaper.

I think so. You can also find good deals at Fry's electronics or Sam's club.

The desktops are more powerful. Usually. Lots are built for gaming,, so you are paying for the video card.

Spent an hour ininstalling ArcGis 9.X so I can install v 10.0. Install is for tomorrow.
