If you won the lottery people will use you and want to be friends just for the money and your family will come out to the woodwork and need money and never pay you back and you'll end up hating everyone for being so shallow. Or maybe you already do.

Yes. true, but I'd not be broke. And yous guys is my friends now and I'd share the wealth - literally and we could meet up and do chicken things every weekend and and and I wouldn't be broke.

Emus for everyone!

There was a poster on here who posted a pic of her emu and it was the funniest thing. If I recall people were taking shots of thier chickens and roos looking in thier windows and as you scroll down there's this HUGE bird very inquisitivley (did i spell it right) looking in a sliding glass door...I mean standing as tall as the door itself. And she says something like, This is what I found staring in my window or something to that effect. It was hilarious.

I'm being a little naive here but what do you do with an emu anyway? Do you eat them because that would make a very big fried chicken!

This would be true both ways.

Emu have very lean red meat, and are suposed to taste like beef.
The eggs are used by crafters to make artwork on, carved usually.

But this is meant to be a flock / herd protector. They are very protective of 'their' animals, in fact new animals have to be introduced carefully. This one will be raised around chickens, so that it knows to watch out of them. Someone on BYC that has one said there are no more hawk issues now for his flock....
