The water is snow melt and storm run-off that occurs every single year. You can set your watch by it.

We didn't ggive them a permit because they didn't come apply for one. Had they come and applied for one we would have denied it because it is an unsuitable location for a building.

This reminds me a field trip I took when attending a course about wildland fires. We were in Colorado and visited an area that had been hit by a big fire a year or two before. Naturally the vegetation was gone so there was nothing to hold the soil. A subdivision had gone up previously on an alluvial fan (google alluvial fan if you don't know what it is). Naturally rocks and soil washed into the subdivision. Since the subdivision was next to the national forest the home owners went to the forest and wanted to know what the forest was going to about the dirt in their yards.

When I was a kid I saw an alluvial fan and figured out for myself that something caused it. That something was erosion caused by water.

Stupid should hurt.

Warning: Ranting and Raving Ahead


I rarely rant and even more rarely rave, and it's almost unheard of for me to complain about my DH and kids - but I HAVE HAD IT. I am not cooking anymore! I am not making lunch for DH anymore! I am feeding ME, what I want to eat, and everyone else can just figure it out!

There is almost nothing I can make for supper that everyone in the house will eat, with the exception of homemade pizza and scrambled eggs. I have tried meal planning, getting input from everyone as to what they want, and I get a whole lot of "I don't know" so then I try to make the least objectionable meals I can think of and still get shot down. And DH complains that he gets tired of sandwiches (and chips, yogurt, fruit, dessert), so then I bring leftovers, and then he doesn't want those either. FORGET IT! I'M DONE! We can't afford to go out to eat every meal, so either they can figure it out themselves, or they can go hungry!

I know I'm not a bad cook...my friends and extended family love to come over to eat...I've never given anyone food poisoning, either...

Gretch, DH had a herniated disk in his lower back (L5/S1) and they ended up doing an injection in the vassett (spelling?). It worked really, really well. Any chance that would be an option for you?

Lori ((hug)) My mother is the same way. I can clean all day and that women will be the first to make some kinda comment. Love her but drives me insane.
