Your moron cat ate the tail of a blue-tailed skink? [hating the mental picture I'm honing in on]

Yes, but not the same one that yacked. The one that yacked is the one that hides dead mice under the area rugs to save for a midnight snack.

But feel free to enjoy the mental picture anyway.

I'm not sure I can handle that much traffic!

I promise we will yell "car!" if anything comes by.

I gotta leave in a few, to run errands, torment the sick hen, and then torment DD. Don't know if DH will let me back online this evening. He gets jealous

But he'd never suspect the e-mail....

Yeah. Silkies aren't the only space cadets at my house.

I understand. I was thinking maybe in the fall you would be able to ship out some other ones you might have. But, it sounds like a pain the a@@ so, I understand why one would not want to do it.

If I have any friends from NJ that drive to TN in Oct for college reunion I'll see if I can arrange a transport though

Yeah that would be good! My boss goes to Southern NJ all the time. I could probably rope him into transporting for me

This has been a very bad year for blood-sucking creepy crawlies. I'd DE each bird, wait a few days and then check the birds again.

I finally dragged out all the shavings, swept the coop clean, locked everyone out and sprayed with a pyrethrin-based spray. Hosed it down until the wood looked wet on the walls and roosts and such. Left the doors and windows shut for hours in the heat of the day. Then I came back, aired it out, put down shavings and liberal DE, then powdered each bird with DE before they were allowed back in the coop. And I plan to do it again tomorrow (but this plan was made before my tooth fell apart, so we'll see).

I have to overkill because I plan to show my birds. And because I hate little bitty creepy crawly blood-suckers...

I recently discovered mites on mine. I'd always used Sevin 5% to de-mite the chickens. I'd never wormed my chickens before and never had reason to think they might have worms, but Ivermectin wormer is supposed to work on external parasites (which I knew they had), so I went down 2 nights ago and dosed them all with Ivermectin. As of yesterday I didn't manage to kill any birds, so that's good.

I have plans to take 10 birds to sell at a local swap in 2 weeks. I had to get pre-approval to sell because they're trying to make sure no one tries to sneak sick birds in for sale, so I want to make sure all my birds are mite-free in 2 weeks. I'll probably dust them with Sevin the night before to make sure.
