She was in a cabin in GA, trying not to freeze, cuddling an adorable 2-year old girl and doing crafts & coloring with the 7 & 8 year old girls.
Driving there on Sunday was an adventure. Snowy roads close to home, and then again when we got into NC there was major snow on the roads, plus it was still falling. On the way to NC a Swift truck shed a large chunk of ice that nailed the windsheild in front of me. The glass didn't break (whew) but it scared the crap out of DH and I. The teenager cheered
There was 8" of snow at the cabin and the owner was whining about it. DH actually got the van stuck, briefly. The owner sniped at my sis-in-law when bro got his Mercedes stuck in the wrong spot, and sis-in-law sniped back. Mom was sniping at evvybody, so the kids stayed with me at my cabin until she chilled. Ah, family at Christmas!! It snowed some more, we ate lots, and I watched the winos drink lots. The kids built large snow people. We watched 'Despicable Me' repeatedly. It was a great movie, a fact which surprised me. When Gru said, "light bulb" I got to listen to a kid chorus repeat the phrase, including 2-year old Abby who was adorable when she said it
DH wasn't feeling really great, though, and proceeded to feel worse.
I was the miracle worker that got Abby to sleep finally on Monday night, with no screaming or crying. But it killed the party in much the same way that taking a puppy away from small children does. Have I mentioned that she's adorable?
It was sad when Abby and her parents left Tuesday. Mom left too.
The rest of us went to an arcade and blew $ on Skee ball. Then Sis, DH, DD and I wet to see the new incarnation of 'True Grit'. I enjoyed it, as did sis and DD. DD now wants to see the first version. Not sure what DH thought, as he was too busy trying not to snore.
Dropped DD off in NC before coming home. I miss her. But I am very glad to be home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The gp, cats and chickens were all glad to see me. And they all survived, even the blonde birds that haven't learned how to climb a ramp yet. The coop smells bad, but it will warm up some on Saturday, so I will clean it then.
DH is definitely sick, and sounds like a lame foghorn when he blows his nose. He is no fun to be around when he's ill. He's just realized that he'll get to feeling better about the time he has to go back to work.
