Well, I'll have you know that only one thing followed me home and that was an old ring toss game for kids. It's a wood square with 5 pegs...4 corners and 1 in the middle and 3 rope rings with a colored wood bead on them. The board is painted with zoo animals around each peg...elephant, tiger, lion, girraffe, and bear and each is worth different points 5, 10, 25...

I've actually been wanting one of those games since I volunteer at the girls school during parties and need to bring games. This one is cute and cost just as much as the new versions...about $28. But it's old timey so it's cuter.

Then we went to the bar FIBS...I know what you are thinking...I think it stands for a naughty word??? But under it it says something like Friends in business. Anyway, every thurs. apparently they have a jazz band with some old timers and lots of old timers go dancing around in gold sequins and feathers in her hair, or another in silver sequins and black high heel boots, and yet another old lady wearing red lace (oh my goodness) and when they weren't dancin with thier men, they were dancin around with umbrellas doin something like a conga line.

This was great entertainment to me since I ordered the salad bar, french onion soup, 4 grilled shimp, 2 crab cakes, and 1/2 a pound of king crab legs. My mom got a roast beef sandwich with mashed potatos and the salad bar and was finished before the band started to play. I could tell she was wishing I would be done with my food faster but I told her to just have "another one" and I'd drive home.

She had a couple beers on tap and I saw her tapping her fingers to the beat...she can't fool me...she liked it. She wants to bring her friend there now on thursdays. That way all the old ladies can kick thier heels up. She said there is something to be said for people in thier 80's dressing up and going out and having a fun time.

I told her I would let her wear feathers in her hair but I drew the line at her wearing red lace and a red bra.

Mom bought a cute dresser with a mirror and we haggled the guy down $100 and got it for $385 and then she got a twin bed frame that's wood and painted green and old and beat up but fashionably beat up for $128 or something like that in another store. I told her we should have driven my mini-van so now we have to go back tomorrow morning and pick her stuff up.

and that was my grown up day/evening. aintcha proud?

Buffy, I printed the recipe, thank you!

I spent most of the day goofing off with the kids. It was delightful.

It's snowing like mad out there, I'd estimate we have close to 10" of fresh new snow. I have plenty of food and wine for the whole weekend, I'm not going anywhere!

Have a safe and happy New Year, everyone!

They weren't wearin red hats though dacs. I think they were "with the band," Otherwise known as groupies.

and so you know...I had to bring my soup home (but i did have a bite and mmm, melted cheese and mmmm croutons) and I brought my 2 crab cakes home (not bad for Illinois) but mom did sample half a crab cake and she said she didn't trust it, being from Illinois but it ACTUALLY was pretty tasty. And the shrimp were HUGE and grilled...so delish. And I had a rootbeer in the bottle.

Glad you had a fun but responsible evening, g.

I came home to tend to my sick hubby and found the neighbor's lab cross running in dizzy circles around my yard. I tried to play with him (have the paw prints on my back and legs to prove it), then started to go inside. That's when he decided to terrorize my chickens in their runs. Poor dog lives on a zip line 99% of the time, and I hate to take away his freedom but he was scaring my birds badly. SO I went and got him to lead him home. When he realized where I was taking him, he decided to use puppy magic (he's about 9 months old) and go 3 directions at once. End result? Me, on my knees being dragged across the grass before my brain caught up and I let go of his collar. My wrist is swollen and achy, my lower back is p.o.'ed, and I have a crik in my neck. But the stupid dog got the message and ran away from the coop, at least....

So now I have DH's virus, plus assorted additional aches and pains. I am not a happy camper....

Sorry to make light of your plight of horror but that's what we're here for isn't it?

This poor dog is neglected, bored and lonely. And way too big to not be trained! I'm thinking I may need to get some treats and a strong lead, and see if I can undo some of the damage the owners have wrought. He's not mean at all, just poorly behaved. He gets maybe 30 minues of attention a day, at best, and spends all the rest of his time on a zip wire.

I'm almost done with my 10 days of antibiotics but I'm not sure it's making my sinus infection...cough...hack...nasal drip....go away. I was grossin my mom out today in the car. Good thing she's my mammy! Can't trade me in for another one.

And I've got 2 herniated neck discs and hip pain we are trying to figure out...some arthritis but dr. thinks I may endometriosis...she gave me some pain pills to help ease the pain but it doesn't take it all away but at least makes it tolerable at times...my neck is sooo on fire all the time lately. Talk about me bein a whiner or cranky pants at times...aches and pains are noooo fun. If your pains really get to you, I'd tell your dr. if I were you. It helps some.
