Well, I'll have you know that only one thing followed me home and that was an old ring toss game for kids. It's a wood square with 5 pegs...4 corners and 1 in the middle and 3 rope rings with a colored wood bead on them. The board is painted with zoo animals around each peg...elephant, tiger, lion, girraffe, and bear and each is worth different points 5, 10, 25...
I've actually been wanting one of those games since I volunteer at the girls school during parties and need to bring games. This one is cute and cost just as much as the new versions...about $28. But it's old timey so it's cuter.
Then we went to the bar FIBS...I know what you are thinking...I think it stands for a naughty word??? But under it it says something like Friends in business. Anyway, every thurs. apparently they have a jazz band with some old timers and lots of old timers go dancing around in gold sequins and feathers in her hair, or another in silver sequins and black high heel boots, and yet another old lady wearing red lace (oh my goodness) and when they weren't dancin with thier men, they were dancin around with umbrellas doin something like a conga line.
This was great entertainment to me since I ordered the salad bar, french onion soup, 4 grilled shimp, 2 crab cakes, and 1/2 a pound of king crab legs. My mom got a roast beef sandwich with mashed potatos and the salad bar and was finished before the band started to play. I could tell she was wishing I would be done with my food faster but I told her to just have "another one" and I'd drive home.
She had a couple beers on tap and I saw her tapping her fingers to the beat...she can't fool me...she liked it. She wants to bring her friend there now on thursdays. That way all the old ladies can kick thier heels up. She said there is something to be said for people in thier 80's dressing up and going out and having a fun time.
I told her I would let her wear feathers in her hair but I drew the line at her wearing red lace and a red bra.
Mom bought a cute dresser with a mirror and we haggled the guy down $100 and got it for $385 and then she got a twin bed frame that's wood and painted green and old and beat up but fashionably beat up for $128 or something like that in another store. I told her we should have driven my mini-van so now we have to go back tomorrow morning and pick her stuff up.
and that was my grown up day/evening. aintcha proud?
