I'm also friends with Buffy, Debi, AK Michelle, PC, Iowa Roo Mom and Dacs. (Do you have any idea how hard it was to get Buffy to sign up for FB? Everyone on the Friends thread begged her for months!) Somebody send me friend suggestions for Orchid, Sparkles, Batty and Nella. I promise I won't ignore them!

While I was babbling with ya'll all day, I was also trying to diagnose an issue with a prgram I use daily and desperately need. Afyer multiple calls with the CS folks, I had to stay late, zip the data base and send it back from 'repair' which would be done 'as soon as possible'. What a bummer.

I got home and decided it was time to pull the cream colored hen off the nest, make her eat and drink and stretch her legs before she went into a travel pod for her new home. She TOTALLY freaked out, had some kind of seizure (inhaled a shaving, maybe?) and from then on she hicuuped with every step she took. Not a cough, not a sneeze, but a loud drunken hiccup.

Since I'm taking a young gn pullet to replace the one the roo killed, I grabbed her lovely cream-colored buddy that I desperately wanted to keep. I hope my buyer doesn't mind. If I could record the bizarre sound the hen is making, she wuoldn't mind at all.

Then, I picked up my only remaing gn to give her a hug and got blood on my hands. Somehow, she has managed to get a long gash between her breast and wing. How? I don't know. No roo in there. No free-ranging for the last 2 days. If wire is loose, I hope no one gets into before I get back. Can't find it in the dark.

So, I'm putting eggs in the bator. No argument. Can't take chances.

The garage light died when I flicked it on. Hopefully it's just a bulb.

I almost dropped the incubator, getting from where DH 'stored' it. I suspect he was trying to hide it.

Luckily I didn't drop any eggs on the way to the bator....

Man, the things I learn on BYC. I think I'll just stick to "Nells". BTW, anybody hear Sugarland's new song "Stuck on You"? They should be keelhauled, shot and made to eat kelp for that.

This morning I was a called a "Cover Messer Upper". Rather than say, "oh thanks Honeybunoni, I wuvs you 2", I thought to myself "hey, that's like being a People Cracker Upper, like Dacs!

Add to my list of anit-accomplishments yesterday:
1) Locking the outdoor cat in the coop for the night.
2) Leaving a chicken in a box full of shavings, rather than in the cage with her buddies.


Luckily, the bird in the box did NOT give DH a heart attack this morning, but it did scare the splort out of him.

The cat followed me into the silkie coop when I put the blondes to bed. I'm not sure who was less amused this morning, the silkies or the cat. But she was up on top of the overhang, within a chickenwire barrier meant to keep birds from roosting there. DH gets to haul her out. Wish I had a camera on the coop...


I do not have sympathy for DH this morning. I was shipping eggs, and looking for some lovely brown paper packing material that I had saved to use. He'd moved it. When I asked where it was he said,. "Probably in a landfill by now." There was enough of that paper to pack 6 boxes of eggs. I had made it clear that I wanted it. Y'know why he threw it away? Because the cats were playing in it and the noise started to irritate him.

Guess who's irritated now.
He crumpled me a BUNCH of newspaper this morning. It was bartely enough. Hopefully there will be no more of these landfill incidents.


BTW, Buffy, the 'dead' plant is blooming and the happy plant has no flowers. Why is that?

BTW, a beaner is also what they call the carabiners used for rock-climbing to anchor you to the ropes. That's what I think of when I call her Beaner.
