I will PM you my cell number, just in case Lori did not, just call when you hit Lexington/Georgetown and I will meet you at the Marathon station at exit 136 where we had the poultry swap
smile.png
It takes me about 15 mins to get there.

Yes, PM her your number, as I have not done that yet.

Yes, beaner, if I could borrow a styro-bator that would be lovely. The other lady I knew I could borrow one from is higher up in the Sevier County mouantains and still can't get down her driveway. They're an older couple and won't try unless they have to egt out. And I guess they're pretty well stocked right now.
I used to have a styro-bator and gave it to a friend. I'm sure she's left it in worse condition than yours. Interestingly, it also had a missing screw for the heating element. That must be a common malfunction. I bought it used and knew it came missing a screw. Electrical tape and a spare screw did not permanently fix the problem but it worked to hatch out TN and his girls, plus some others.

Which is a better day to meet, Beaner? Wed or Thur?

Sounds like a plan. I'm trying to get to Dayton OH about 5pm, so that will give you an idea of when I will be in that area. Might be a little earlier (or knowing me, a little later lol).

Alrighty, remind me later on and I will get them out of the garage. Wednesday or Thursday is fine for me, doesn't really matter much. The birds will be kept here in an outside brooder with no heat, so if that's a problem, Thursday is better and I will stick them in a cardboard box in the house just for overnight.

See what you're doing to me? Breaking the no chicken in the house rule already.

If you hatch an EMU out in my bator, I get to name it. Poopsie Woopsie sounds like an awesome Emu name.

Morning all.

Lori, sorry about your DQ, but it sounds like the rest of your weekend was pretty great.

maple, glad you got that messy, dangerous thing out of your house with no casualties other than the rug. Regarding the evil callouses (I get the bad ones with deep cracks too), I have a scrubber I use in the shower that has the cheese grater

, a pumice stone and sandpaper plus a soft scrub brush - I use all four on every callous every other day, and then I use baby oil gel on my feet every morning before I put my socks on. (Disclaimer - if you wear white socks, they will not stay white using baby oil gel every day.) It has made a HUGE difference for my feet, DH is super impressed.

One of my EE hens laid the first shell-less egg I've ever seen this weekend. That was quite a surprise when I went to grab it! I wasn't paying much attention, noticed four eggs in the nest box and figured I had missed one in the dark on Friday night - nope. Three moderately warm good eggs and one very warm one with no shell. Very weird.

Lucy on the left, Norman on the right. Lucy is getting much more comfortable. She no longer wants to stay in the extra bedroom all by herself all the time. She wants to come out to the living room to visit me or play with cat toys in the hallway. She LOVES to be petted and just purrs up a storm. If she is on the couch and I "talk to her" she will get the half closed eyes and start kneading up a storm. What a funny girl.

She is FAT now and is starting to get shinier. I love my Lucy! Only problem is, I always feel like Ricky Ricardo when I talk to her. "Luuuuuucy I'm hoooome".

Never fear, Nells, you may feel like Ricky Ricardo but you definitely don't look like him.

Looks like Lucy and Norman are coming closer to a truce.

I will probably not be much fun this week, we are having our Fluppy dog euthanized tomorrow afternoon. It's time, she has stopped eating and her breathing is so labored...she can still get around but that doesn't mean much when you can't breathe and won't eat. My poor girlie. DH and I have been so sad, if one of us isn't all teared up the other one is. It was a long, sad weekend.
