Aw, thanks Nells.

I hardly ever cry and the last few days I've just been a veritable fountain.

Such an awful feeling and I know I'll feel better after tomorrow when she is at peace.

ANYway, have I ever mentioned how much I dislike having other people's kids over? Had a friend over for each of the boys yesterday; the 6 year old went home early after calling my DS all sorts of awful names. He was just a brat. Although, my DS wasn't much better, he was kind of a brat too. Won't do THAT again for a while. The 11 year old apparently wasn't paying attention when DS told him that we'd meet his parents at the school at 5 - his parents told him to call before we left and he apparently didn't pay any attention to THEM, either - I sat at the school for over an hour waiting for his dad to arrive. Finally drove the 15 minutes back home to call his parents since I didn't take my phone as it was supposed to be just a quick trip into town.

Ish.

Am I an awful parent if I never have my kids' friends over again?

They know that she won't be with us much longer, but they don't know about the appointment tomorrow. I think it will be easier for them to understand if I tell them that she passed during the day and we took her to the vet to be cremated; otherwise I know our younger DS will think we killed her. I am going to take the day off work tomorrow.

I've only had to deal with losing 1 dog since my 'youth'. She was 14.5 years old and had been in very poor health for a year but basically 'crashed' one night and we took her to the emergency vet at 3am to put her down....I had to take a couple days off work and pretty much sat around and cried for a few days. I'd had her since I was 9 years old

I now have 2 "old dogs". My old shepherd mix Toby is completely covered in tumors and has really been "aging" the last few months or so. But he is still the happiest dog EVER.....he probably has 20+ tumors, some of which are baseball sized. He is just going to stay around until he is no longer happy. My old poodle has a bad heart murmur and the same goes for her.....she can stay around until she is no longer happy.

There is just nothing like a good old dog. So grateful for everything and such a great part of the family.

On a sort of related note, how is your urinary kitty doing?

Hope they are giving her daily hugs 'just in case'.

But yes, secrecy is best when the kids are really young.

We're here if you need us. Heaven knows ya'll have 'heard' me crying often enough. We're good listeners in spite of our meanness. And maybe we can cheer you up a tad with the meanness?

Minty is doing great, thank you for thinking of him.

I can tell he's getting a lot more fluids when I clean the litterboxes.

He's happy, bouncing around the house, chowing down his canned food (I add extra water to the gravy and he still likes it) and NOT peeing in the closet!

He's a funny cat, everywhere he goes and everything he does he makes a noise - prrrruup! Brrr? Brrrwow! But he hardly ever meows. He's a hoot.

Yes, I am always here with my meanness for cheering. Although now that I am medicated again, I am just gloriously nice compared to my evil ways last month.

I made a hooker joke on the SDWD thread but I don't think anyone got it. *crickets chirp*

Orchy, you know I hate children so I see no problem with banning them from the house FOREVER.

Yeah, they are.

Funny how a good dose of meanness can cheer one up.

Glad to hear that! I've noticed a significant increase in the grossness of my litterbox lately as well. Okay wait. Not MY litterbox, my evil cat Norman's litterbox. Lots of big clumps to scoop out. Not any more stinky or anything.....just lots of fluid making its way through him obviously. I'll take extra scooping and litter over pee problems any day!

Minty sounds fun. I like fun cats!

He is fun, and you never know where you're going to find him. I especially like it when I come home from work and he's peering down at me from the top of the kitchen cupboards.

Okay, so I am full of hatefullness toward the world in general today and stupid customers in particular. I just talked to the biggest WITCH on the phone...OMG lady...I CANNOT tell you exactly how much it's going to cost to install your stupid unit heater without looking at it!!! And if YOU think it's only going to take an hour and be so easy, then why don't you put in in YOURSELF?!

I am not fit to deal with customers today.
